I've been really inspired by killer's amazing 1/32 monster truck, so I decided to build one for myself!
I wish I had the skills to make such small u-joints as killer does, but I haven't (yet), so I decided to make it 2WD so I don't have to deal with loads of problems.
The gear ratio will also be a lot smaller[EDIT]nah, maybe just a little bit smaller. I just realized it will flip over if I attempt to turn at higher speeds :S [/EDIT], so that I can enjoy both offroading and on road racing.
I thought a lot about the suspension. At first I wanted it to have individual suspension for the front tires because I thought it would be easier to make than multilink suspension (which it's really not). Considering the width of the vehicle, individual suspension wouldn't allow the tires to travel very far because the suspension arms would be very short (I could make it wider, but then it would be a stadium truck and not a monster truck). Multilink suspension on the other hand allows massive axle articulation and far greater wheel travel, and not to mention the increased ground clearance (and it looks nice, too!).. So I decided to go with Multilink suspension.
At this point, I'm just about done with the front "axle", steering, and the rear axle. So all that is left now is the suspension and the chassis and the radio installation of course.
I'll post some pics/info tonight or tomorrow.
