Not another MiniZ-Xmod comparision! Just one more :-)

I own both cars. I purchased my Mini-Z a year ago so I have had plenty of time to play with it. I only wish I played with the X-mods first so the obvious superiority that the Mini-z's have over the X-mods wouldn't be so apparent.

For $50 I think radio shack has a real winner here. The mods are kewl, I like being able to "mess" with the cars right off the bat by having to screw the car body together. The hop ups are dirt cheap and this thing should keep newbie happy for a while.

However, if you buy every upgrade for the X-Mod, I still think it doesn't compare to the Mini. Actually, it's not even fair to compare the 2. The mini has superior electronics, a great controller, awesome range, top notch body styles, etc. The X-mod feels cheap, The range sucks, and it's noisy as hell. Sounds like a POS Tyco RC car. The Mini-z is smooth as hell and just takes off without a fuss.

Me and a buddy were racing our X-mods yesterday. I have the Nissan and he has the Acura. Although we were on totally diff frequencies, there would be times where we couldn't steer our cars due to interference. It may have worked a little better outside, so we're gonna try that this evening.

I've been playing with Zip Zaps, Microsizers, HPI RS4's, MiniZs etc so I have a good feel on what each offers.

I really want to like the X-mod, actually I've spent so much cash on hopups for the X-mods that it's sickening, not to mention the price of 3 Xmods. 1 for buddy and 2 for me :-) . I basically have every option they sell. I struck gold at the local radio shack near my work. I will be installing the AWD, bearings, stage2 motor and light kit tonight and will try to find a comparable configuration that hopefully will compete with the mini-z but I am doubtful. So doubtful that I just ordered a Mini-z Overland BMW from Tower and will be getting that tomorrow :-)

Bottom line, I would recommend an Xmod since they are kewl little cars with lots of affordable mods, However, if you're going to hop it up and spend over 120 bucks, then get the MiniZ since I think out of the box it outperforms the Xmod in everyway.

Peace.

Nugz
