I bought a can of Testors' Sapphire Blue Metal Flake Spray Enamel and painted a clear 350Z body. It's very easy to screw up & now I am even more impressed by the work others have done. I covered the windows with scotch tape and sprayed the outside. The first coat showed me how simple it is to get too much paint on the car (I'm glad I didn't try to paint the inside!). Using an exacto knife and some nail polish remover, I got rid of the most offensive "puddles" and threw on a second coat. Finally, after three coats I figured it was good enough. Removing the scotch tape was a pain and I have some nice scratches, chipped paint, etc. to show for it.
I still need to paint some of the details and put on a gloss coat, but here's what it looks like. The camera does a great job at highlighting the imperfections.
