Engines
Here's what i think, i think that the stage one engines are better than the stage two engines
i think this, because the stage one engines have more torque than the stage twos, and i don't really care how much faster the stage two engines go, because i don't have enough room for them to reach there potential.
What do you think?

I looked at the stage 2 motors and I thought "no way"for only 4k rpm speed increase it's just not worth it to me so I passed on them.
I lean heavily towards thinking that stage 1's and stage 2's are the same but the stage 2's have the timing tweaked. The rpm range is just to close to have a significant internal difference(in my opinion).
I also thought about tweaking the timing of a stage 1 motor to pick up the 4k rpm's the stage 2's have over the stage 1's but I dont want to lose torque.(increase timing=increase rpms=-torque)
I'm probally wrong on the stage 1's and 2's being the same motors except stage2's are tweaked but I dont care it doesnt matter that much to me since I did not spend my money on the stage 2.When I do spend money on a new motor it will have to have bearings.
Has anyone taken a stage 1 and stage 2 motor apart and counted the windings, wire gauge and checked the timing???

when out side where i drive my car most the stage 2 motors are great. i dont start from stops much either. like if your racing you want your engine to have higher revs and top end so you have the power to pass, your not going to win a race on the first strait away

My stage 1 couldn't handle carpet, but my blue stage 2 can. I think it has significantly more tourqe. It also runs hotter, so it must be a lower turn motor than the stage 1s. Therefore, it has more tourqe and speed. When I get my pinion puller, I will dismantle them to confirm this.

So Micro S2000 for your type of racing the S2's work, thats good.It all depends on the track drivin on, some people will need more torque and some will need more speed.
I say I can take a S1 and tweak the timing to gain the 4k rpm's that the S2's have.
Even if there is a physical difference between S1's and S2 motors I should be able to gain 4k rpm's at a slight torque loss by tweaking the timing.
I would have expected the S2 motors to have about 1/3 more rpm's than the S1's.When I saw they were claiming 26k rpm's for S1 and 30k rpm's for S2 it just did not seem right to me.

Yes Nathan please confirm ASAP as you can see I have some very strong opinions about the differences of the stage 1's/stage 2's.
I really need a pinion puller.

how do you tweak the timing?
(for some reason, i keep thinking of adjusting the intake adn exhaust cam timing in a 1:1 car lol)

A little history:
well on the 1/10 scale cars you could just rotate the endbell of a stock motor but you had to cut new tabs to hold the endbell on.later people got smart and just rotated the commutator and put the motor back together so there was no outside visible evidence of tampering. They now have it locked so I guess it cant be done on 1/10 scale cars anymore (I havnt raced them in a while so I dont know for sure)
Anyway since you cannot rotate the endbell of an Xmod motor you have to open it up and rotate the commutator then put the endbell back on.I havnt done it yet but I have a motor with the endbell off just to measure the bushing.
