Things just got interesting.
If you've read some of my threads, you might have read how happy I was with the WalMart clone sold as MotorWorks and imported by Planet Toys. Well, my love for these have went to another level. I don't know if this is how other clones are, but this clone has a very unique steering system. Instead of two coils on the sides, it only has one coil. It's where you'd normally find the magnet. And in place of the coils on the sides are two magnets. This is awesome for two reasons. As I mentioned before, I love the steering and handling of these cars. Now as a Mod'r I'm really impressed with it. With the coil being in the center, it only needs two coil wires. That's the first plus. The second plus is how it works. Apparently it changes the polarity of the coil to decide which magnet it goes to. When it does this, it's pushing off of the opposite magnet. How brilliant is that? It can hold some serious turns at any speed. I never had a problem with the previous set-up, but I'm just picturing what I can do with this configuration now. Are there any other mini-rc's like this out there?

I am going to Wal-Mart tomorrow.
I'm sure my wife is going to murder me for buying more toys, but it'll be worth it.

Went to both of the local Wal-Marts tonight. One of them had them, but only 2 left - and they were the motorcycles. I'd like to get my hands on one as well.

What is this strange obsession?
Man...this really ticks me off! hehe I have never seen a single bit clone at my local walmart. And reading this just makes me even more mad. I'm gonna have to try all the walmarts around here in my area cause I gotta get me one of these. What all kinds of bodies do the motorworks come with (that anyone has seen)?

They don't even tell you what the car body is. All I can do is guess, so I'll give it my best go.
I've seen a truck(looks like an f-150), SUV/wagon (looks like an Outback had sex with a Pathfinder) and the only other one I've seen looks like the new two seater BMW hatchback, but with a spoiler added. The bodies are ok, but the paint needs a little work and the decals had to go. They might all come this way, but I've only seen the BMW in a clear body. The antenna is monstorous compared to a zips, but so is the controller. It's made for a mans hands.

Have you seen the ZipZap clone at target that costs around $10 and has a motor/gears up front that activates the steering?
The car itself is about as long as a ZipZap but the gears are on the right side of the chassis. The battery drops out of the bottom (1/3aaa 80mah nicd)
MGA entertainment is the manufacturer

Those Target clone cars are...
Micro Blasters. I think they put these out on the shelf when all the MicroSizers are sold out.
Pretty decent speed, but the gears are super noisey and the generic bodies and rims are hideous.
I REALLY beat on mine when I run it- seems pretty durable though.

I don't have a target where I live. Sounds interesting. I'm heading to the big city for Christmas and will make sure to check them out. If they're still there. My guess is the entire country will be out of Micro RC's a few days before Christmas. Unless these clone companies really punched them out. $10 is worth seeing how the steering gears work. Is it proportional?

I have a Micro Blast Racer and cured the noisey gears. You need to lube the metal pin that the spur(counter)gear spins on. Also lube the axle where it is supported by the chassis. If you do this to your Micro Blast Racer or any other micro car with a similar gear box , this will gauranteed bring the life out of the car! You will notice a big increase in performance! By the way I use Aero car lube designed for rc car bearings and bushings, but any similar lube should work.
DO NOT lube the gears themselves!

ONLY $10?!?!?
That looks sweet. I bet the steering is pretty straight. So is it proportional? Can you tell it how much you want it to turn? I've always liked the gun controllers better too.
Where the heck is the battery? Is it hidden or just taken out. I hope I can get my hands on one of these. For $10, that is smokin'!

Stridex...
The steering is not proportional, and the controller (with seperate charger) is a twin-stick type unit. The 80mAh battery is in a compartment accessed from the chassis 's bottom.
It does handle as well as my ZipZap, and is faster than my ZZ with NOS motor/green gear combo. I am contemplating a wheel tire swap- to the left-overs from the K.I.T. Racing units (that I bought for the orange 2.6 motors).
