Bit Database

I have been thinking about creating a Bit/Micro R/C database that I would publish to a webpage. I would also like to make it searchable.

I need to know what kind of information would be good to have for each car so I can create the proper tables.
Does anyone have ideas for this?

why not an owners database like they do with classic cars and such.

Get info like where you from, which car body is your fave, current race set-up etc. etc.

My initial idea is to create the database using SQL/ MS Access.
Once enough useful information is in place, I'd publish it using my webspace for all to use. From there, I'd want to make some SQL queries for searching, storing the database on my PC running SQL server.

tiny, let me know how we could get together to do this.
I really want to do some DB stuff. I'm learning SQl now and it's hard to do without a project to work on. If you have a server running MS SQL that could host the databse, that would be ideal. I would love to build the tables and write queries!!!

Would Recomend Access. The data can be access by Access or other programs. Almost a standard but realise that the SQL its pritty limited. Does not have the fun function that a pure SQL has.

Can be imported into Excell. You can pop pic etc in any Column/Row.

When release stay with Access97 as the "output" Easy to read.

Good luck!

Nightwing, you offer a good idea.
I was thinking about a purely web-based database, but releasing the DB file in Access97 format would be sweet! We could write queries and create a form for updating and adding data to the DB.

Thanks!!

The problem is mfg identification.

I am no expert in Access but if need anything holler! Can do both stange stuff in VBA code some SQL or VB "accessing" an Access DB.

Actually I wouldn't recommend Access at all for web use, it can't handle more than a few concurrent connections. We do have some MS SQL servers but most of the TinyRC code uses mySQL. DarthRacer, do you have AIM?

I have an AIM account, but I need to re-install it. I'll do it today.
Best time for me to be caught online is in the evening.

BTW, how different is mySQL from MS SQL?
I have a copy of MS SQL Server 2000 that I can build tables with.

DarthRacer, MS SQL is much more advanced than mySQL. Let me know your AIM SN and we'll chat!
