fraz,

What material did you use for the infield? I would like to do the same for my track.

Thanks.

I think its RCP isn't it?
BTW, what is the dimension of you lanes and the overall track?

Lanes are pretty continuous ~2-2.5ft wide and the back straight is a little wider. It is PLENTY for these cars if you can drive. My friends and I are all pretty acomplished drivers and while it took some getting used to, now we are used to it and we can haul butt. Waiting for lap counter to come in from China right now but we did some sloppy timing tests and would say 10-12 second laps. A perfect lap is likely in the high 9 second range.

Keep in mind we are running stock motors, 6-7t gears and the cars are WAY more than fast enough to get you in trouble. The real speed secret is turning down end point on transmitter. I think I had mine at 45% and still way fast. We don't allow gyro to keep things fair so I have to leave mine unplugged. I never even took my x-speed motor out of the package cause it is not needed!!

My first reaction was it was too small to rally or even race and I was dead wrong. We get running and have on a number of occasions had up to 6 lead changes... IN 1/2 LAP!!! If that's not raceable, I'm not sure what is

The RCP is nice and I am an original supporter of RCP. Heck just ask JohnB from RCP, he knows me. I'm sure if he sees this, he'll dig it. What we wanted though was some more realism. On real race tracks, rarely do hard walls ever come out to the edge of the track. Maybe on temporary courses or a NASCAR oval, but that's it. They all have runoff, FIA berms, etc. That is what we were going for. Gotta give vast majority of credit to my friend Mike as it was his brainchild. This one is just temporary for fun so wait until you see the REAL track we are cooking up

Had a feeling I'd find you here eventually P So the recipe for this track is easy and cheap but a bit time consuming.

~~add 1 crazy track designer (hi Mike)
~~add "matched" blank RCP tiles -- use back side and match them so there are no gaps or edges. Takes time but way smooth and cars roll free as can be through corners. Least amount of scrub.
~~add 2 rolls of 1/2 wide self-adhesive weatherstripping tape
~~add 1 large roll of white duct tape
~~add 1 large roll of red duct tape
~~add 2 large rolls of 2" green crepe/masking tape
~~add some hours of patience and an equally crazy friend to methodically cut out red stripe FIA berms (yours truly)
~~drink plenty of caffeine
~~mix, and enjoy for hours

**Sprinkle a copious amount of vaccuuming to taste. Especially good if you have pets!

Total length is like 20ft (~16ft straight) and width is around 9ft.
