A new guy
Hi all
I thought i maybe could get some help..
Cuz in a few days my Shen Evo will arrive(Not a BC-G cuz you cant get such things in Denmark...!)
And of course i'll buy some extra stuff for it..
That'll be:
- gears
- new engine
- New battery (NiMH 200 mAH)
for now..
Now to the point.. Which of the gears and engines do you guys recommend, if High speed?
I have the opportunity to choose from 4 engines.. 3.0, 3.8, 4.2 and 4.2 pro(?) I dont know what 4.2 pro is but i guess it's for Dual-speed(?). Which should i choose?
I guess this Topic not only will be helpful for me, but also for other newbies.
Sry if theres any mistakes in my english.. Afterall.. im from Denmark!
Hope you guys will help

Personally I like the 9.86:1 gear, it has a good jump on speed right away and is pretty fast...mix that with a 3.8 or above and watch out! LOTS of torque.

Yes, the pro series motors are for 2 speed cars. I haven't got one yet, but if you're talking about Perfection (the company), then that's a good company. I would still pick up a few extra though, in case one dies. As far as gears, just experement. I've seen some anomalies. For example I put a 12:1 in a car with a 2.2 and it was really fast. That trick didn't work on other cars though, and I still don't understand why it worked so well with that car. I think each car is a little different and will handle differently with same gear as another car.
Also, welcome, and good luck.

Thanks!
Now.. I think it was a King 4.2 Pro Engine.. And i dont know if that's perfection?
Also.. What about Tires? What's the difference between Soft and hard tires? I heard you could use something from pens for ultimate grip?

Yup. There are your 3 basic tires (soft, medium and hard), then there is anything you can scavenge. The cars are front heavy, so having less grip on the front than the back will help alot. Otherwise you spin out. For example I use tires that came from a pullback car (also made by tomy/parts interchangable) for my back tires. I had to cut them down a little to fit without rubbing. For the front tires I use the slickest things I can get my dirty hands on. Some people even race them with no front tires. I think that's a little insane though.
By the way, shen evo???? I'm not familiar with that one. Is it a shen que lancer evolution? Let me know how it performs.

yes, the king 4.2 pro is made by perfection.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
tire table:
soft-rear: acceleration
soft-front: sharp steering but will flip at high speeds
medium-rear: good mix of acc./top speed
medium-front: good steering at higher speeds
hard-rear: best top speed
hard-front: good for drag races mostly-do not use for technical tracks-will not flip as much at high speeds
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
some people cut off thin slices of round pen grips for custom colors and/or treads and/or grip capabilitys

I have a pic of it.. Although Shen is ok, right? I mean quality and such things? BTW.. Thanks for the Tire table!
