what custom bodys have you made?
Im trying to figure out what customs people have made resin molds for or have vac molded..
there are many posts about different bodys that people are casting and molding. i just figured we could all post what we got here and maybe put a link to our posts.. there are other bodys that i would like to make but if someone has already put in the work to make the cast and mold... i would rather just buy them from them..
Resin - 50 ford woody
- 56 pickup (almost done)
- 57 nomad (not finished)
Vac Molded Bodys
- original Mini cooper
- ferrari 250 GTO
- Baja Beatle
- Beatle RSI
- Porsche 911
and a few others...

Here's my current projects - everybody whos been around for awhile probably remember the "almost done, still working on this" Mustang I started a few months ago... well still not done. The beetle will probably suffer the same fate, but oh well, I think I like working on these things more than playing with the final product.

hot wheels makes the baha beatle body with is a pretty close fit to the bit and i haev a mathbox or some other generic die-cast of an old beetle that looks like your beetle.. its almost a perfect fit on a bit. i havent tryed to cast it yet.. all ive done is vac'ed it. it came out pretty good...

Well thanks rt, I didn't know I had any fans
Hey Spanky, I think I used the same Hotwheels Baja Beetle you're talking about. It was all black with flames down the sides, sunroof, and a big scoop on the roof. Right? Yeah, I made a latex mold of that and caste 2 pieces. Cut one bug down the middle lengthwise and the other bug I cut the sides off and then glued all three sections together. Then I used the front trunklid from a Transformer I use to have (anyone remember BumbleBee) It worked out pretty good for splicing four different pieces together. The only thing I had to do was build up the wheelwell/fender -thingies, otherwise it was a pretty good fit.
