another lsd idea

working on a new gear diff lsd. ive been trying to get some washers to fit between the side gears and the casing. can never get the gears and plates in there at the same time. and then gotta still work out making some sorta pressure plate.. (_ _) been trying to make an lsd like this. so far ive been through many differential set ups. from paper, to plastic, to metal washers between the gears. problem with the washers being in the middle is the lubricant gets pulled out by spinning outward force and oesnt stay where i want it. im still trying to get a better set up for a 2wd gear lsd. ideas anyone? does the ball diff casing have more space?

What's wrong with my LSD?

I assume you want to make a diff. that can be used in a RWD setup. Well, good luck.

theres nothing wrong with ur lsd. i think its great. its just not meant for 2wd aplications.

i found out a way to correct binding problems on these lsd's. the plates arnt binding... its the side gears against the sides of the differential casing. what i did was place a cut disc of aluminum foil and place it in between. it slides smoothly now. lubricant is not nessesarily needed. its the plastic against plastic that causes binding.

hmmm the foil between the side gears and the diff. seems to have fixed the problem! i dont know how long it will last but the binding problem is fixed. i also found another material to use as clutch plates. if you take those little circle colored stickers and stick them onto aluminum foil. then punch out holes. you can use the punches to subsitute for washers if you dont have any. just keep the clutches facing paper to foil. you can try using just foil but its too much of a hassle to install because the foil gets messed up. i prefer the washers because they are easier to install and dont require any fabricating.

paper+paper=bind
paper+plastic=bind
plastic+plastic=bind
foil+paper=ok
foil+plastic=ok
foil+foil=ok
