Exclamation A wonderful idea, an alternator

i was over in parts and hop-ups readin about batts. and everybody was sayin how sucky alot of em were and i was like an ALTERNATOR! i was thinkin about usin one off those crank type things like in some radios i think they call it dynamo charging maybe you could use a super small version.and the first person to come up with a semi-simplistic alternator and directions i will give $15-$20.money amount depends on simplicity, effiency and discretness.peace out oh yeah B/C could you sticky this please!?

I think you miss understand how thoes dynomoes work. They are designed to work with low drain devices, not high drain devices. Besides they only produce energy, what do you plan to store the electricity in?

exactly!!!!!!!

lithium xmod, you are right on the money you use the drive shaft. put the dynamoe charger in the front just like the AWD kit but you wire it to the battery compartment to charge the NiMH batteries!

I am sorry to tell you that it is impracticle. It would take several hours of cranking in order to charge 1 set of batteries. VS the 1 hour, or 15 minutes to recharge in a charger.

That would just be more power loss from the motor which would equal less speed. IMO

i think its a good idea. But u need a cell to hold juice instead Like 5th cell sort of then it hold the juice the alternator makes whick the motor then uses. making u go faster or giving u longer life. i htink it could work. lol

You want to regenerate electricity from your running motor? Just hook another motor to it. Remember that an alternator (generator) is just a motor being used the opposite way. When spun by an outside force, the motor generates electricity. When you use the brake function on the controller, it does exactly that, putting a load on the motor so that the motor is sending power back into the batteries. If you knew anything about generators, you'd know that the force required to turn the motor increases as the electrical load increases. Have you ever used one of those wheel-powered generators on a bicycle to power lights? If you had, you'd understand that the load placed on the car would be so great in trying to regenerate electricity that the car would barely move, if it moved at all.

Cool

I did not feel like explaining the huge flaw. Thanks!
However if any body figures out how to get perpetual motion to work... That would kick butt.

let me just end it for you, i tried it a long long time ago and it didnt work. the car was slower and i gained no extra run time. if you did find an ultra efficient generator it still wouldnt work. generally batteries get warm when they are discharging (when you race your car around) if you try and charge a cell while it is warm you can cause damage to it.

i was hoping to at least get a few more minutes. but nope. must have been an error or 2 in my calcs ;p
