Angry motor works SUCK

well i was tired of everyone saying that motor works were the best clones and bla blah blah so i decided to get one, i got one and here's what i have to say:

The speed: its faster than all my other stock clones
The steering: Horrible couldnt be worse, it has really wide turning circles and the car kinda skips around when it's turning
The range: Crap 1/3 of the range i ghet from my precious
The body: Its okay but not too detailed

thats all i have to say, if u plan on buying one, DONT cuz u wont be satisfied.

I just bought my second M/W clone today. The first was very fast and had a lot of torque. The steering was good too. I have heard everyone saying the steering was bad on these. Well, I wanted a truck, so I bought the orange one. I wasnt expecting the luck I had with the first one but I was again shocked with the performance. This one is better than the first. I did have to reglue the steering coil after five minutes of use, But after that, this thing rocks!!! Stock...so fast and turns tight. It flips easy, but not a problem, it rolls all the way back on to its wheels and keeps going . What shocked me the most is that this thing will do wheelies. No modifications and it wheelies! Maybe I just got lucky twice. But I do love my motorworks clones.

My Motorworks clone is just like MWill517's, it rocks! It works as well or better than my MS. Sorry to hear that you got a bad one, AUDI-TT. Most of them are good quality, but (just like the R-Specs) one in a handful is a dud.

I have had good luck with the motorworks cars too. A lot of torque and pretty good speed right out of the box. I have bought 2 of them, to use for projects. I liked them so much, I drove them for a while and even lowered one, before taking the things apart.

I've now purchased 2 normal Motorworks, and 2 of the newer style with the longer wheel base. The normal Motorworks are good performers. The steering is a little on the wide side, and the range is shorter than other cars in my collection, but they are very fast. All of the extras you get with them are pretty cool, and I dig the charging base. I use the charging base for my dual cells.

The new style with the longer wheel base has its drawbacks. The cars are larger but have no more power than the normal ones, so they run much slower. They also have even shorter range than the normal models. It seems as if they run lower to the ground, which causes problems on even the shortest pile carpeting. Some of the bodies are very cool though. A smart person could mod one of the newer models into a killer custom job.

The Motor Works I tried had the worst steering I'd seen in a clone, and the battery exploded the second time I charged it, but it was very fast. I complained here, but several people said theirs are good, so I exchanged it. The second turned on a dime, and the battery didn't blow up, but it's not very fast.

Also I really did not like the 3 wire, hardwired motor setup. I really like to swap my motors around, and that was just too limiting to me.

So I'm sure there are good MW cars out there, but I'm not going to waste all my money finding one. I'm done with them.

I’ve been thinking more and more about these Motorworks cars, and I’m liking them more and more. They’ve got some great qualities. Here’s a rundown on the Motorworks cars.

1. Awesome charging base – I’ve modified the charging contacts on mine, so that both my Motorworks car and a Bit will fit on it. There’s enough power coming out of the base to charge a dual cell car without any other modification. If you really want to modify the base, just add an AC adapter jack to that baby, and you’ve got a serious dual cell charging station.

2. Remote control – The remote isn’t exactly wonderful, but a longer antenna wouldn’t be all that hard to install. And heck, we’ve all got other remotes up the yin yang. Just find a better remote.

3. Rear axle – The rear axle has a special clip to hold it in place. This is a nice feature in comparison to a standard bit design, where gravity and constant removing of the axle finally wear out the axle groove, causing nasty steering problems. Yes, it is harder to get to the rear axle, gears and motor, but that’s a trade-off.

4. Steering coil and magnets – The Motorworks use a center coil and two magnets, giving them strong steering. All of my Motorworks have excellent steering, so the system seems to be pretty reliable. I’ve noticed much less left/right drift on my Motorworks than my Bit clones.

5. Battery – A Motorworks comes standard with a 120 mAH NI-MH battery. Much better than the stock Ni-Cd of a Bit.

6. LED – The LED of a standard Motorworks car is kind of funky, but it works. And you at least know exactly where you can solder in more LEDs for further light mods.

7. Wheels – I get pretty tired of the standard bit wheels, with no easy way to change them. Motorworks have removable rims, like a Zip Zap, and ship with multiple rim configurations.

8. Tires – Just like the wheels, the Motorworks give you instant options. They ship with slick tires, knobby tires, and a set of rear wheel mags.

9. Gearing – I haven’t tried it yet, but it appears that the gearing is Bit compatible. I can only imagine how fast a Motorworks car would be with a lower gear ratio.

10. Suspension – No stabisus on a Motorworks. If you want some front suspension, you’re gonna’ have to add some springs. This is the only huge downside I see to the chasis.

11. Battery contacts – Okay. These are a pain. Lift out the battery and the contacts are flying all over the place. Superglue these babies the first time around, and your problems are cured.

12. Latest style chasis – The latest Motorworks cars are slightly different. They have a longer chasis like a Zip Zap. I haven’t tried yet, but they could be excellent for dual cell mods, having that all-important extra room for another battery.

13. Latest style wheels – The latest Motorworks also have 4 wheels of the same size, spaced further apart along the length of the chasis, for those of us who prefer a more realistically shaped vehicle.

14. Motor – Motorworks ship with a screaming fast motor, but it’s soldered in. Big deal. If you have the ability to do a dual battery mod or some other exotic mod, you certainly sure have the skills to add something like a motor contacts to make the motor hop-swappable. I would like to see some sort of metal heat sink on these babies, which they do not have.

15. Extra parts – Motorworks cars come with extra bumpers, roll bars, and whatever else they can dream up. Nifty stuff. I have one Motorworks that even came with a tow truck lift.

16. Body styles – Although the paint jobs are generally hideous, that can be worked around. You at least get some body options that you don’t normally see on Bits. You have your choice of at least three different styles of pick-up trucks, and a pretty cool SUV. You are no longer limited to the world of rice burners.

All in all, the Motorworks aren’t all that bad. They run fast out of the box, come with lots of options, and have a killer charging base. With a little imagination, they could also prove VERY easy to mod in certain ways.
