how did you wire the batteries?
If you did them in parallel than all you did was increase the run time not the overall speed tyhen add in the extra weight of the 2nd battery and your bit would be slower.
Make sure you wired the batteries in series and that they are recieving a full charge. My dual cell with a 2.6 flies.

you have to make a stand alone charger to charge the 2 or more cells
The controller only puts out the small volts to charge 1 battery at 1.2V. Dual cells wired properly will give you a 2.4V.

it was my understanding that you could mod your controller like it says in QFM's tutorial so that you could charge the dual cell. the mod to for the controller to do this basically just runs the wires from the charger directly to the two batteries in the controller. so you should get 3.0v from 2AA batteries. which should be enough to charge the 2.4v
i have a 4 cell setup ready to change to if need be but i would rather not because it will either make my controller bulky if i do or i would end up losing the damm charger if i made is seperate from the controller... hehehe i kinda lose things.

you have to wire them in series. If you think you did wire them in series and its still goign slower you have to check all your connections. Chances are that your second battery isn't connectec.
Here is what mine looks like:

i left the original wires in place from the pcb.. the batteries are wired to eachother, but i placed insulators on the tab where the two batteries are connected. so the charge and everything should still go through the original wires... so the positive wire comes from the pcb to the bat1 then to bat2. from bat2 it goes back to the tab. and the tab is wired back to the pcb. bat1 does not make an electrical contact with the tab. where the second battery is connected...
humm are we confused yet? i did the tutorial from QFM. that has the exact diagram of what mine looks like. with this mod the tabs retain their original connection to the pcb
