Upgrading
Im upgrading my bit and i really dont know what to buy i have never done any of these upgrades before so input of anykind is welcome
I am thinking about buying a new motor. i have a 2.2 but really dont know if i should upgrade or not.. i have limited run space and was thinking a faster engine might hurt me more than help me..is this true? also my motor is from a clone. are non clone motors better?
Also i am thinking of buying a gear set. Are these helpful even if i dont buy a new engine? Or are they a must for anyone? (I need atleast one because i want to do the full size wheel mod.
I was originally gonna do the 2 cell mod but i hear it kills steering and desided not to.
Plz let me know what u guys suggest

Definately buy a motor. The zipzap nos motor will be faster and cheaper than the 2.2. Since the zipzap motors are a bit longer than the bit motors, I just used a dremel to sand down the bump on the end of the motor (see pic).
As for the gears, the slower the motor you have, the more you'll notice the effect. Only you can decide if it's worth it or not.

I've never used a 3.0 or 3.8 motor. I had a 2.6 but it eventually ended up being as slow as a 1.0. The nos and turbo motor is faster than the 2.6 in it's peak power by a wide margin. For the about 13 bucks, you get the fast and furious kit with the nos motor, turbo motor, and a bunch of useless bodies, axels, gears, etc.
Or you can spend the same 13 bucks (maybe a little less) and get one 3.0 motor which has spotty performance and reliabliity at best.
Or you can spend the same 13 bucks again for one 3.8 motor.
The answer was clear for me. Same money, two motors, and a bunch of useless parts that might be useful. I ended up trading the two zipzap bodies away for parts that I could use.

The motors are just metal except there's an extra bump to them. I sanded the bump off with a dremel to make it fit my bit. Some people have just forced the motor in their bit and said it worked.
If you're doing the wheel mods, mod it with the radioshack rims, that way you can have changeable rims(hubcaps) which also comes with the fast and the furious kit. See the pic of my rx-7. Those are zipzap rims on there.

I have FF kit, and put the NOS motor in my Bit. Yeah is fast enough, good accelerations, but couldn't get the top-end speed. My 3.0 and 3.8 Bit have slow accelerations but reached the top speed.

That's what I did.
I was given my cars and a ZZ F&F kit, and was very suprised at the speed diff.
My advice is do the suspension mods to keep controlability at high speed.
