Question Burnt out 3.0

OK, I got my accord wagon two days ago, and put the 3.0 in it last night. I got one good run out of it, then heard a hissing noise when it died and I pressed forward. When I put the engine in it now, it will run, but there's absolutely NO torque. I can hear a little grinding in the idol gear too. Anyone ever had a problem with gear spacing aff the controller? Any thoughts?

Also, the wagon I got has a really good charge to it. Right out of the box I got a 15 minute run, and up to 30 minutes of straight run-time after 2 or 3 charges. Just wanted to mention that I did everything right- I charged the battery full off brand new alcalines. I would strongly recommend the Accord to a beginner, because if you do want to do some mods, plenty of room for them.

Does it work okay with the original motor? The 3.0 is notoriously flaky, it probably just died after that first run.

Yeah, to be honest I think that's whats going on. Can anyone suggest a good mid-grade motor? I was thinking about just a 2.2. I want something a little faster, but dependable and I have no experiences with any other cars or engines.

mcbusiness, you'll be happy with a 2.2 or 2.6, go with the 2.2 for a tighter tracks and the 2.6 for more open spaces.

I almost entirely agree with FanMan.
The 3.0s are a big waste-o-time unless you're looking to play drag race boy and turn hot straight away times.

Of course then, I'd say just get yourself a Bit Racer and save some money because there's not a lot of skill involved in pushing the forward button and holding it down.

OK, I've ordered a 2.6, and got me some track material. I'll post some pics when I get my track going. Any reviews on the 3.8? I'm guessing its just as flaky, maybe even more so. I don't know, I'm a power freak. I was very impressed at the speed of the 3.0, but I have to agree, big waste of 'monkey'. Thanks for the info guys, props on the site, good to meet you, and I'll be here for a while

mcbusiness, actually we just got some 3.8s in to test, we'll be posting a review soon, so far they don't seem nearly as flaky as the 3.0.
