I must say that on the whole I'm not all that impressed with the Zcar, but I'll reserve my full judgements till after I find some AAA batteries to test this bugger with!
- Uses a 100mah NiMH battery (~45sec charge/~7min runtime)
- The remote has a bunch of lame flashing lights (that you can turn off)...LED lights! A pair of red and a pair of white LED lights...See what I'm saying here?
- Comes with a 2.2 motor standard, with a clip-on used to hold the motor in place. VERY easy to swap motors.
- The underside of the PCB board says 'Smart Car', so there's no doubt these guys are the US distributors for Smart Car.
- The charging station on the remote is a pain in the ass! It's clumsy and ill thought out (I'll have to use video to show this properly). The only way to reliably charge is to hold the car in the charger and keep holding while it's charging.
It's pretty easy to get inside the Zcars' chassis to have a peek around, so stay tuned for the 2nd part of First Look; Performance.
