No private messaging, my theory on why Tiny disabled it is because he did not want to be bothered by people, especially those new to the hobby as well as the forums to PM him whenever they needed help. I've seen this happen to the big guys of the forums, e.g. the moderator, the guy who always has a say on things etc. Sometimes, private messaging is simply going to make the forum useless if someone asks Tiny, "How do I install the battery I bought from you?" instead of making a post in the forum. Please use search for common questions like this. Also, if you only want to contact a particular member, that is why there is the email button which works the same way as the private message feature because both methods land an email in their inbox; however, the Private Msg notification requires them to go to the forum while an email has the content there. However, private messaging wins if the particular user is a regular poster on the boards and when he/she registered, used an email they rarely/never check, e.g. an email for registering to stuff that may spam your inbox.
As for emails, I like it how the UltimateBB will use scripting to hide the email till the user clicks on it. This is a good way to protect everyone's email from a potential advertising agency whose main method is to send out spam. This email hiding renders it a hard task to click and gain everyone's email unless somehow the Database is hacked and there is a file with everyone's email (bummer).
BTW I've been receiving some spam lately that are trying to sell me some clone Bit-Chars, anyone get that in your inbox? I'm not blaming TinyRC because whether or not the guy got my email directly of this forum or from another source (definetely), but I was just wondering. I get like 40+ spam mails a day, its useless to block them, and unsubscribing never works, they just keep coming back.
