Track Layout/Matterials

i know there is a lot of things like this but this will set everything straight....

-I found that the best matterial was super short carpet
-I was thinking of cutting a 4' 4" ft piece of cheap ply wood
-Then you should nail or staple the carpet to the piece of wood
-Then figure ouut a track layout

I like pressed felt as the surface myself. You can get it at craft stores.

Here's my idea...going off of yours.

Use that thin carpet for the grounds. As in the grass and the surroundings. See if it comes in green. Then take some black foam board that someone suggested on the other site and cut them into the lanes. I bought a slab after I read that post and think that surface is just fantastic for racing. If I make a track, that's what I'd use. It's dirt cheap and very easy to cut. Plus it's raised so it makes putting up borders just that much easier. You can also do tunnels and bridges now if you wanted to get fancy.
