Is the skyline the most popular body style? If not, what is?

Its a car I'd like to drive around my high school. Wait no, that means I have no friggin life if I join the losers with the mustangs who patrol the school trying to get some girls.

Love em' R32s!!! I wish I could get one, I would be on top of the world, well, kinda, its not my ultimate wish, if it was, I would probably be out of my mind.

its kinda popular
it's basically a japanese vette, so its just natural to have the amount of peeps drooling over having one...and hey the r34 body that 90 percent of clones (and tomy) uses has very nice geometry. I noticed a big difference in cornering compared to my lancer body, prolly due to being a bit wider than the lancer, and qiute a bit lower when mounted to a chassis.
The lancer would flip under the kind of high speed turns my skyline can do, although with some serious tilt action going on
The rx-7 also sits about identical to the skyline...i have yet to see how it likes flying across linoleum sideways with a 3.0 under its butt

vette is a waste of 40g's
never buy from motorex they over price by $60,000...yes $60,000
a brand new r34 gtr v-spec II was only $28,000 over on the big island, and for shipping your looking on only $500-$2,000 depending on how much weight your wanting to ship
motorex = sh!t
there are better places that bring em ove for what their worth ya know...

but i thought motorex legalizes them (crashwise) some how, so it would be technically illegal to import them yourself. Am i right? (the mind of a 15 year old speaking, i know not enough so i might be wrong)

i like the bit about emissions testing, you HAVE to be joking, US cars have to be the worst for pumping out emissions..........
as for crash testing, i'm pretty sure a Skyline will have a decent crash system in it.......... sure if a bloody 6 ton escalade crashes into it it'll fall to bits but then your average Sherman tank would too if a friggin' heavyweight smashed into it!

You have no idea what it takes to get a JDM car US-legal. Motorex had to crash right around 10 cars to get crash certified...not to mention all the CARB and emissions stuff. If you import a Skyline (or any other non-US car) yourself, it will NEVER be legally titled or registered. Sure Motorex is overcharging...but they're a business and they can. How else would they make money?
Think before you start talking **** carb0.

here's why motorex charges so much/
EPA certification... the cars pass CARB requirements and EPA, but since it's not a car intended for sale on us soil, the EPA does not intend on keeping records of this model of car. \
So here's the bad part.....You have to get each one individually EPA certified. Which means it has to go through their tests....and certs cost loads. THe parts are cheap, but the cert is prolly 15k+ of it easy. Its somehting around 30k to get a skyline EPA certified (according to j-garage, another skyline importer). SOme importers (j-garage) just sell you the car, you have to do the customs work, EPA cert, etc yourself. Those guys can get you a 93 gt-r for about 15k, but after certs and tariffs itl be more like 45k. my guess is motorex tacks about 10k on top, which considering hte rarity of this car within hte us, is a small price to pay for a car like that.
Just to give you the idea of how bad certs are, take my job...we had to UL cert a modem......2500 dollars a day.....a day! It took 3 days and 20 modems to get a UL certification. so for a 80 dollar modem we threw 7500 dollars in cert fees alone, then another 1600 in hardware costs.
Motorex wasnt for the guy who doesnt want to deal with things, just wants his skyline, if you don't mind doing hte details, just go to the smaller importers anyways the small guys usually bring other cars in too, like evo 4's and stuff
