antenna question
Hi, sum1 told me that i could use a old telephone cord for a wire so i opend mines up took out one of the wires in it and i cut sum of the pastic from the wire so i could see the copper strand but i found a string in like cloth material, it runs through all of teh phone cord. well im wondering can i still use this.

The thread in the phone cord wire is there for strength. The purpose of it is to make the wire flexible and strong at the same time, so that your daughter can lie in the sofa twirling the cord all day without breaking it.
I wouldn't think a phone cord would be much of an antenna for a bit since it is way to floppy and would probably just trail along on the floor.

and also where can i find a cat 5 wire? at radio shack? or can any1 else give me any good antenna replacemnt ideas

Perhaps cat3 cable was meant by phone cord cable as that is what is now used commercially.

btw do they only sell cat 5 with the ethernet cable, or do they sell it separately too? and if so wher ecan i find it?

Cat 5 is ethernet cable. If you don't just have some lying around, it's probably not worth going out and buying one. Stop by your local (non-chain) computer shop and ask if they have a ten inch or so scrap of unterminated Cat 5. There's a good chance they'll just give it to you.

i got an idea bout the telephone cord, wat if i just take all 4 wires out of the telephone cord and take out the string and twist them together and just solder them liek that? will that work? just and idea
