motor confusion
im a little confused as to which motors are supposed to have the greatest top end speed.
my new fairlady(stock orange gears) runs faster w/ its stock 2.2 motor(yellowish-green cap) than w/ my microsizers 2.6 motor(orange cap).
i also noticed that my bitchar-gmotors 1.6 motor(blue cap) seemed to be faster than the stock 2.2 in one of my other cars.
do motors "age" and get worse with time?
or does the stock gearing put too much of a load on the higher numbered motors to get optimum top speed from them?
or do i have things all mixed up here?

your fairlady is faster because of the boost fuction. boost gives it approx 1.0 more. so your 2.2 is more like a 3.2 when you boost

yeah, the fairlady is definitely faster than my non boost cars, and even appears to be faster than my older booster cars.
it also appears to discharge more quickly than my other cars(boost or non-boost).
i still dont understand why my fairlady runs faster w/ the stock 2.2 in it than it does w/ the 2.6 in it though.

I have also noted that the steering respond much quicker in my 350Z than in any other boost or not boost Bit. I was thinking that this could because of a new PCB disign. It's really faster and take turns a lot better without any mod.

yeah, mine seems to turn sharply too.
on some surfaces it turns a little too tightly so i have to put harder tires on the front so the front wheels can slip a little.
i guess i should clarify my original post:
when i replaced the 2.2 motor with the 1.6 motor(same car different motors) the car appeared to run faster.
when i replaced the 2.2 with the 2.6 motor, the car ran slower.

I have had this happen as well. my 2.2 impreza was much faster then my 2.2 toyota truck. I wonder why this happens.

well...after a looongg time using tomy motors, we think that the 2.6 is kinda...variable. Some of them have verrrryyy little tourqe and will top out faster than a 2.2 eventually (we are talking like 30'). Some 2.6 motors, especially new ones, are WAY faster than a 2.2, almost as fast as my 3.0. And finally, i have one 2.6 that gets outstripped by my 1.0. I think a lot of it has to do with the individual motors, and 2.6 and 3.0 motors tend to fizzle out sometimes.

hi all, virgin post here
i dont think these motors are very consistant to their rating... i mean i really doubt the manufacturer is measuring each and every one of these things to assure that they are what they are... these things are made in china after all, not the best place known for quality... just my opinion tho, please, no flames...

Sorta OT
Are all the Fairlady Z's Booster cars? I see them listed on this one site but it doesnt specify whether its a booster car or not. Also where are you guys buying your cars from. I have only found like 2 sites that seem to sell the real deal. TIA

"I have the same problem. I have two MS with the same 2.2 motor i have had one about a week before the the other one and the newer one is MUCH faster the the old one. why is that?"
my cars seemed to run a lot faster and longer when the NiCd battery was new. after a few days of use, they are run slower and dont last as long.
you could try swapping motors between the cars to see how much of the speed difference is due to the motors.

Probably your motor needs cleaning.
You can use an electronic contact cleaner spray.
Look for one that evaporates fast.
