MantisWorx is coming to Dnano!! sneek peek inside
Some of you know me from the mini-z side of the hobby and i have decided to jump in to the growing Dnano market. I purchased a GT3 about a week ago and have only drivin it through one or two packs. Here are my impressions of the stock car with the only mods being a greased stock diff and on the second charge i installed a DDS (which was complete crap! more on that later). it is very bouncy with and without the DDS, it has a fair amount of speed front suspension is very smooth overall i decent car although VERY expensive to own/operate.
now i installed the DDS (one with the blue light) and it was just plain horrible, very notchy and the pivot point is behind the axle (maybe just a RM thing) but basically when you depressed the car down the DDS would move up and down more than it would move fore and aft and that is pointless. So of course my mind starts to go to work! here are some pix of my first attempt to correct this problem but let me explain my thinking. Since there is very little movement in the suspension (less than 1mm in any direction max) what we need is a way to increase the motion via a better pivot point. A standard t plate doesnt really have a pivot point it just bends. add to that that on my car the mount point for the DDS was behind the axle and that is even worse. Another point is that i think it is completely unneccesary to have two plates on a car this small, no matter how smooth you make it its just too much bad friction, these cars dont weigh anything. so with that being said here are the pix. Please feel free to comment, i can machine just about anything so nothing is written in stone!

Oh a few other points, the material i use is the correct thickness and you dont need those stupid washers to keep the t plate is place (its hard enough to screw anything down on these cars!). the design of the T plate puts the pivot point as close to the chassis as possible and by doing this it almost double the fore and aft movement of the plate!! i dont have access to a Dnano track besides our mini-z track and i cant time it. So once i get the system exactly how i want it i will send a set to Mr nanotrax and have him evaluate it with lap times.

You can always send stuff my way too. We're the largest dNaNo facility in Canada (and also have a Mini-Z track too).
We use RealTracks for dNaNo along with the Kyosho IC Tag system and can provide feedback based on that surface along with having timed results.
Check out our site below.
Note that most guys are racing at the Hobbytown USA tracks which are an outdoor felt surface (as per my Kyosho America sales rep). You probably want to involve someone using that surface as that will the main core of dNaNo racers.
Note that the optional kyosho t-plates do have a similar design as what you've shown, however the pivot point is further back from the chassis. Check out the attached pic.

it is similar! i havent seen that one before and i noticed that the kyosho DDS is much better than everyone elses for the same reasons that i stated . Well i will refine it even more and im pretty sure i will be cheaper! i will definately hit you up after i get a few different versions cut.Right now i am relying on my MINI-Z experience for results!!
