Racing Success

you guys seem to have a very active shop which is very nice to see and love reading about. when you have a chance, please post your tips to making dnano racing successful. unfortunately, most other stores don't seem to show much interest in it, or they just don't spend much time outside their limited reach in the store in promoting it. i know it takes time, but it really does pay off when you see tracks like this one being very active vs. some that have not had any responses.

cudos to you my friend

Well thank you Arch, So far everything is working out very well here in our store with the racing. Every week I see 5 to 6 new faces that find them selves just roaming around the track so normaly what I do is just hand them a controller and let them have a ball around the track.

I did that last week and 2 guys came back the next day and purchased cars and controllers..

Whats helping us to make it succesful is were telling everyone that comes into the store about the cars and the track... everyone that buys a new truck or car from us we hand them the Dnano pamplete and explain to them what it is all about...

Another thing that has been great is for guys who bring a friend and that friend buys a dnano setup ( controller and car ) they get $10 off there next purchase of $50 or more.

These are just a few things we have been trying out that has helped with sales. I hope that the other stores are doing well with this to, would be awesome to run like a national event including all the stores in one big race...

I hope some of this info will inspire some of the other store owners to try different things with the Dnano cars.

i absolutely love the idea of competitive store racing, as some of the east coast stores have begun to plan.
it would only seem logical to expand this concept regionally or even nationally with a large end of the year championship event. Kyosho used to do this with mini-z's many years ago. it was called the kyohso mini-z cup.

naturally, something like this will simply take time to develope as other stores begin to see what works and what doesn't in evaluating their programs.

just want you to know i support this effort! let me know if there is anything we can do as a forum (tinyrc.com) to support this effort.

on mini-zracer.com for example we have a subforum for events which gets coordinated to an events calendar which ties into site advertising. this is not setup on tinyrc.com however it doesn't mean that it could't be done

I am always up for some friendly competition and the end of the year championship run sounds great. I think these cars are great and will do very well if the shops advertise well enough for them..

And thank you very much for the Support it is greatly appreciated. I tell everyone here that has a Dnano to join up with TinyRC.com to keep in contact with the store when they are home.

If possible if you may have a small banner we can hang up in our store that would be great. Let me know. We are using TinyRC.com as our Official forum for anything related to Dnano.

Thanks

Rich

First impressions

First off I have to say THANK YOU to Mark, the store owner for his hospitality, and Rich for working so hard to make the evening very enjoyable for everyone. This was my first time not only at this store, but also racing on the HT track. For anyone in the area I highly recommend coming down to check things out. This is a great group of both young and older drivers who have the just the right mix of fun and competiveness. I was especially impressed by Rich’s multi-tasking skills and his ability to herd cats. As often drivers would become involved in side bar conversations or be distracted by something shiny and Rich would step in to keep the events moving quickly. Some how he managed to - sell parts when drivers needed something, talk to observers with questions, manage multiple qualifying heats and mains, fix the equipment, and keep us focused and on task. All without any delays or anybody anyone having to wait around. Overall the racing got cleaner as the night went on. The bumping was just enough to keep it interesting. It was even fun to mix it up with Skyline Franks “road rage” style of racing. I was surprised at how much hop the skylines had. Most appeared to have a bad case of the DT’s. I ran my Mazda 727B the way it was with PN 50F/8R tire combo and it had a lot of push. I will definitely put on softer fronts next time. The only glitch in the evening was the timing system. It would frequently miss laps. Rich found most of the issues were the screen saver and fixed it. I am sure he will have the antenna placement and min lap time buffer locked in for the next race. It would be nice to see Rich share some of his duties during the event so he can race with us next time. It was also good see how everyone pitches in to help Rich and Mark ssemble/disassemble and store the track. Since everyone helped it went very quickly. I am definitely going to try and get up there a least one a month to race.

Thanks again Mark and Rich
