Dnano and set-up
Hello guys!
I'm very curious about the Dnanos. But as ther is only a happy few people that can talk about their experiment with this new chassis, I'm here to collect some informations...
First, are the Dnanos prompt to flip with a narrow offset body as are mini-Z?
I here think about the porsche GT3 or the lancer Evo. Does the body influe on the performance of the car?
Are ball diff and gyro a must-have?
I'm contemplating getting the R8 as this boby will soon be available here in Europe. Does anybody already have it? If so, can he show pictures of it on the chassis?
I'm also curious about the body change. I saw that the R35 and Porsche carrera GT are pretty the same set-up as the R8 (except for wheel and rear offset for the GT), is it easy to change from a body to another?
Thanks a lot for your comments.

If by flip you mean traction roll, I'd say no, they don't flip very often.
I've heard that the gyro is needed with any motor faster than the stock motor, but I'm not a big fan of gyros. I'll have at least 1 ball diff soon, and when I get it I'll start a thread about setting it up etc., but I don't think it's absolutely necessary. A nice upgrade, but not necessary.

the flipping really depends on the surface & tire selection but no, they aren't "prone" to flipping

body doesn't, but chassis does. most people who race like the quickness of the RM, but some are more comfortable with the smoothness of the MM.

your dnano is ready to go right outta the box, but the optional parts are really based on individual driver preference. ball diff is cool & improves performance but only experience will allow you to tell the difference. i'd agree with -J- and say you don't need a gyro unless you're going to the x-speed motor.

the only thing similar about dnano & mini-z are the chassis names. i would suggest you start fresh on your outlook for it. as far as i know, there is no "offset" as each body is fitted specifically with all its proper parts for the chassis. if you change a body, that means buying a fitting parts set as well for modifying the chassis.

Hello!
Yes by flipping I mean traction roll.
At our club we race on RCP so the car are sometimes affected by this problem. (My AWD was a pain to drive for the first month)
As far as I saw on the technical data, the only difference in R35 and R8 (appart for the body mounts) by exemple is the wheels. 20 for R35 and 19 for R8.
Between GT and R8, the difference are only rear offset (4 for the GT and 3 for the R8) and rear wheel (19 for R8 and 20 for GT)
So for those bodies, perhaps is it possible to get a cheaper "fitting kit" than buying the whole one. (By buying body mounts for both bodies, a +4 rear hub and 20 front and rear wheels)
Thanks a lot for your comments guys.
I'm curious to see other opinions on these little beast...

I thought so too. I think different wheel hubs for each body style eliminate the need for wheel offset, but I could be wrong. Sure wouldn't be the first time.

sure, u can compare the two and PROBABLY figure out what goes with what and how but how would ya feel if you ordered what you thought was everything but forgot ONE small part. i prefer to keep things simple... get the new auto scale body + the fitting parts set and keep anything extra for spare parts.
