mini crusher from zap toys
I did a search on the forum to see if anyone has posted about these, and I couldnt find anything. So if I missed it please let me know.
Anyway, these are at wal-mart... They are pretty cool, a little on the slow and weak side. But they have proportional steering and throttle (though, my steering is pretty "jittery") and they seem to have allot of potential.

The box indicates that there are available upgrades such as motors and shocks, although there seems to be non of these at any wal-mart I have been to.
I emailed the manufacturer, asking about the hop-ups, and I got this reply.

Yeah, I picked one of thse up as well. It looks really well built, but drives like crap. Mine is really jittery. Drives me nuts. Also, another wierd thing, when I pulled the wheels off, I found a bearing at one corner and plastic bushings at the other three! wtf? haha
I thought about modifying it, but I've got too many other projects going on to bother with it. I have abad feeling that if I did mod it, the gears would just strip or something.

Hey, some good advice for ya... mine was slow as all get-out when I first got it too, and real jittery... just messing around one day, I took off the front driveshaft and ran it 2 wheel drive, and noticed it spun the back tires like mad. the front end was slowing it down very badly, so of course, I opened it up and greased the crap out of everything... it made a world of difference, I actually drive mine more than any of my other r/cs, haha.

is there any type of tire that can be moded on to the mini crusher formore grip?? also i noticed that the shocksare like the mini-z monster and SSMT, can a long screw shock mount be used to increase suspension travel???
thanks,

articulaton is pretty good for a $30 toy...
torque is ... eh... a little lacking... but still fun
the tires, even though they look like hard plastic, are actually quite soft and get pretty good grip.
the biggest flaw I have seen with either of my 2 is the wheels strip out pretty easy.. they dont actually have hexes, just a round axle with a flat side... the soft plastic wheels strip easy under load..

I just got 3 of these today ($15 each) they are on clearance-get them fast if you want them.I had to go to a supercenter the regular walmarts around me never had them-strange.
I got the jeep, the bronco and the GM and they had the other two there also.My wife was with me and limited my spending a bit plus I did want to check them out before buying to many of them. After looking and playing with the jeep I feel they are a steal at $15 and I want to get a few more (5-lol) for modding purposes.
I saw no accessories.
The jeep body is cool, its the jeep wrangler with 4 doors and I actually saw one of those on the road last week.

i think the jeep is the jeep rescue.
anyways, these toys are really fun, i got to play with one the other day, and saw some at wal mart just today, but i didnt have any money....i will return tomorrow to get it.
i am planning on buying two, one to mod into a crawler, (mainly for the axles.) and one to turn into a realistic scale 1/18th probably. i think most people will buy them for their axles, but they are pretty fun in stock for.
i got in contact with a ZAP representative and he said you could order directly from him, he sent me a price list, but i deleted it from my email acount....jusst go to the zaps page and send an e-mail to the germany adress. he talk to me about shocks, motors, and tires...what it says on the back of the box exactly.
i didnt see them on clearance, so ill check again tomorrow.

They look like a good source of axles but I dont care for the diff action. That super sticky RC diff grease may help there but I wouldnt want them totally locked, just tightened up a bit for better traction.
The axles are wide and should have a bigger tire to look more scale but I doubt they could handle it.
I think there are some oil filled-coil over shocks out there that would fit these.
I would like to use two front axles and make a 4WS truck.

I just got my Crusher last nite
I can say it was jitttttery the first 5 mins but after that
it has run fairy good
I lube the wheel bushing & the front knuckles
& the front end stills feels alittle tight guess i'll open it up
& lube the diff
The friction shocks springs are stiff it really limits
the travel but i took one front & oppisite rear off &
i got the flex now it looks like the real thing running
around now
Oh i got the Bronco body crussher at wally world
on clearance for $17
Other than no low end power i think its a great rig for what it is
but that may change after the motor gets broke in

still looking for one, mainly for the axles, when you say wally world...you mean wal mart right?? sorry just havent caught up to the slang yet.
i am planning to make two mini crusher rigs, one that is a scale 1/18 basher and a 1/20 crawler.
these axles are very useable, i think the first i will modify is the torque, with some gear reduction, and custom chassis and mini-t oil shocks (if they fit.)

Heres a pic of the crusher rear diff
it was missing one of the 3 spider gears
They must not have very good quailty control ,
also found the red shaving in the plastic bushing
that go on the ring gear

i think someone on another forums metioned that xmod bearings fit the axles. the bearings would pobably reduce the friction between the gears and allow more efficient running. for the diff, just lock it....or return it, since wal mart takes back everything, even muddy boots (long story.) i am going to try to get to a supercenter this weekend, since the only is uptown and i am going to a family BBQ. i hope i can find the chevy avalanche and colorado, since they are both already chevy bodies, but i will cut them up to give betterapproach/departure angles.
how do you guys rate the torque on them? i was thinking of using an airtronics 5:1 gearbox or a 4:1 gear box with a mini-t motor to make it bash good.
i want to make a custom chassis for it, with maybe a 3-link (if there is enough space to make it with 1/8" rods.) and i will mount the shocks on the links for more travel. talking about shocks....do you guys think mini-t oil shocks will fit and give good travel?? i was also thinking of adapting mini-t wheels with 1/18 dirt hawgs so it has better grip and bigger tires.
i think this will be a mini-t/mini crusher basher and crawler, when good things come together, even greater things come out.
sorry for the nonsense, its 2:10 am, so i am pretty much sleep talking,
