my stores have stopped selling the cars, but they have a huge box of the parts, batteries, tires, charges etc, but have not clearance priced those yet

Radio Shack stopped carrying the cars, but you can still get them at Tower. I'm just waiting for them to discount the parts before buying them.

Yeah, MegaPro is the non-ProPulse-name-infringing replacement (Google found me a non-RC Pro Pulse company) and while the parts prices look high, consider its mostly for full sets; eg. 4 tires with rims instead of 2 tires alone. So not too bad.
