Dual Cell discussion
Ok so doing the dual cell mod tonight. One bat from the zz one from a motorworks Ive had and I know the MW one is good.
Charge it up with a MT charger and it runs for about 4 seconds then has no power. I tried flipping the battery...no good. Ive gone over my wiring 100 times. I am near positive that its 100%.
Any ideas. I searched and searched, but my eyes are very tired now.
Also where do I get these batteries from. I know its listed somewhere on here I just cant find it again and Im lazy right now. Thanx guys.

Oh my !!!
You've got a couple of No-no's going on there...
1. BIG no-no is mixing unlike cells!!! If I'm not mistaken the MW usese NiCd, while the ZZ uses NiMH. No good
1a. Even if you were using same chemistry cells, you shouldn't mix capacities. I believe the ZZ cell is rated 70maH and you should ONLY use another 70maH NiMH with it.
1b. ...And even THEN, they should be "matched" for best performance and least issues. "Matched" means both are at the exact same level of charge. So you'd want to fully charge both and make sure their voltages are as close to each other as possible, then go ahead and dual-cell them. This ensures that when you charge them, they'll charge together in sync.
As far as getting extra batteries goes, The cells in the regular ZZ are 1/3AAA size, while the cells in the ZZSE are 1/4AAA size. So you can hunt/google for that and it should produce some results. I also have a bunch of both types of batts, so feel free to contact me if you don't have any luck elsewhere.
Good luck.

My local Batteries Plus has them in stock, so Im gonna grab some. Any problem with running 160mha in the ZZ's?
I cleaned up my other post.
Just found the second motorworks car (they sent as warranty replacement when my first one died) So I can swipe parts off of it. My next project is a articulated MT with the MW gear for some added torque.

Nope, 160maH is the same as what I've got.
If you like the ZZMT now, wait till you hack it up with the Articulation Mod...You're gonna LOVE it! Especially if you also do the extra gear(s) mod to it as well and make a TRUE crawler out of it.

Plan is to have a MT crawler, a MT speeder and a MT spinner (my 4 year old loves the spin move)
Little scared of the Articulation...but I think I can get it. For the extra gear, what motor to use? The stock green? Or the red with Green Gears?
Thanx for the help!
If all goes well with the dual cell then Ill be very happy with my original ZZ. The next step is a Mqueen and put the body on another original slower ZZ for my son and get the new super awesome style chasis on something else.
And the Toyota bodies are growing on me.

Yes, the Articulation Mod scares a LOT of people...Even seasoned vets have shied away from it. But for not, the first time through it will be nerve wracking because you're so scared of screwing up and scrapping the whole thing...But you'll get through it and once you're done you'll be proud of the accomplishment and think it wasn't all that bad afterall.
For the gears, go to Gene Crosset's site, lots of great info including the gear mods and what to use:

Toyotas huh? Have you seen any of the Muscle Cars?

The black Stang is the best.
I got the initialD set and thought I would never use the Yotas...but they look pretty good. My first car was a 74 Toyota Corrolla.
Im a european dude...Im trying to horde as many European bodies as I can.
I think my next major purchase will be an epoch. I love the little ones. I dont want to do the whole xmod thing, and I think MiniZ's are a ways off for me. Gotta work up to thatn kind of expense.
Also the wifey already thinks Ive speant too much on the ZZ's
but what does she know?

The Epochs, in a word, are EXCELLENT! They're FAST and they're 100% Proportional! Which means you can just pop the crystal out of the cheapy/cruddy stock Tx that comes with it and use it in a much better 2channel AM Tx!...I use the controller from my Mini-Z and it works perfectly.
Check out our Sister/Brother/whatever site for the lowdown (and the Shop sells Epochs too).

Yeah saw that. So how crappy on a scale of 1-10 is the stock TX?
Has anyone found any good replacement bodies for the Epoch? And WHY THE H3LL hasnt anyone come up with a good VW GTI body. I am a VW guy and it just makes me cry a little. The closest is either a mini cooper or the Lancia Delta (which is what I plan on getting when I go to Mini Z)
Since you are letting me pick your brain, do you know any one that has
tried this track

I kinda like the stock Epoch TX. It's small and easy to use. I've got a Perfex and the quality is obviously better, but I find myself using the stock one more than not.

That's a tough one. Epochs don't seem to be true 1/43. They are just slightly bigger. So 1/43 slot car bodies are just a smidge to small. But, you can mod em like this one I did some time ago.

Az is more lenient than I am...To me the stock Tx makes the Epoch seem like a Walmart special.
Then again, the ready-to-run set price is kept nice and low (about $50) with the cheapy and you won't feel so bad about upgrading to a better Tx later because you've not missing anything by doing so.
...So I guess it's got its good points too.

There is one thing I dont like about the epochs..that damn bumper. Its so huge. Looks better on that pic. But the ones on the Integra...the clearish one. Just ugly. I know we dont get them JUST to look at, but that is part of it for sure.
So now Im debating...another SE (cuz I got some cool setups going tonight) and MT and a Pixar, OR a epoch. I guess I cant go wrong either way. I am just a sucker for a bargain. And I do want to attempt the aticulation mod.

That one is removable. Kind of a extra safety dealeo to protect the front of the car and the front wheels. You can buy them seperate and attach them. I hate the look of them too.
The pic I posted shows the stock bumper which is part of the frame. And on that car it's more pronounced than most

Oh well there you go. that 50 bux is about to fly out of my pocket. If only the sister/brother/cousins/uncle site had the integra in stock. Its probably gonna have to be lancer. Then try to find and mod a body to fit.

BELIEVE ME...As ugly as that bumper is, you WANT to keep it on there!
The Epochs are FAST and you only have to "bump" into something once at full speed to truly appreciate having the big fat ugly bumper on there!
Make sure you checkout the Forums at Epoch1-43 as well...There's some info there about what you can get for bodies (with some modifications to fit, of course) and also check out the info about the "Shotgun" mod/upgrade that LBRC has.
