non-evo driveshaft problem (slides forward in a crash)

Whats supposed to keep the main front-to-back driveshaft in place and prevent it from moving forward and backwards in the car? (original xmod, not evo).

Our driveshaft slides forward in our RSX (4wd) when we crash into something head on. The impact moves the driveshaft forward a few mm, enough to make the front gear move forward and hit the front axle and bind everything up. It seems like maybe we are missing a part? Or something broke off the chassis?

The fix is to move the car back and forth by hand until everything pops back in place. But it is annoying to have to do that every few minutes.

I'm not really intersted in upgrading to a different driveshaft, unless the driveshaft itself is somehow broken (although I can see how a lighter one would help)
