Talking Mudding, crawling?

I am wanting to get one of these little zz mt. i want it for a winter toy, i have a custome 1/10 rock crawler for the summer, so i want to do a few mods to it and go drive it that goopy mud i have around my house (no water). i also want to crawl in my rock pile. so will a zzmt handle a little drive in the mud and on some rocks? i will get the tire kit to, if it's worth it, is it worth it?

thanks a lot
colin

The ZZ-M will probably hold up to your abuse pretty well.

I haven't taken mine out in any mud nor snow yet so I can't say how they do there. (Yeah, yeah, they are not trailer queens though!) They crawl pretty decently stock; however, long travel, soft springs, and gear reduction REALLY help. Full articulation mod would amaze you; but, you wouldn't have sealed tub anymore, so I wouldn't mud or snow with it. If you're gonna articulate it, definately get 2 trucks so you can leave one still sealed to the elements.

For mud, you'll probably be best off using the Chevron tires (stock). For Crawling, you'll probably be best off using the Irregular lug knobby tire (tire kit). Their street tires are kind of a waste on a monster truck, unless you only play indoors on smooth surfaces. You might experiment with making the smooth hard symmetrical tread tire into Pin Knobs, for extra grip in packed loose surfaces; otherwise, those tires seem to have NO GRIP, and they suck.

There are ZZMT gearbox and tire mods on my website which you might find helpful.
