Front suspension in rear

I don't know how much interest there is in X-Mods anymore; I personally have put mine aside to fiddle with my Mini-Zs, but I just thought that I would post one of the latest products of my tinkering.

Ever since I got my X-Mod, I hated the rear suspension (probably because I've been spoiled on 1:10 cars). The extreme amounts of negative camber that the car gets when the rear suspension is compressed is ridiculous, so I decided to fix that.

I wanted to use as many stock X-Mods parts as possible, so I started with the front 4wd conversion kit. I don't have the time to go into a lot of detail now, but it wasn't really that hard; it just required a little bit of thinking skills. I will need to go to RadioShack to get another 4wd kit since most of the parts of my original one are in the rear of the car.

But enough of that, I'll let the pics explain it for you:

Looks like you did a good job. I have thought of doing this but kind of got distracted by my Iwaiver 02/mini-z as well. Any impressions on handling improvements? Did you bolt the bottom triangles (knuckle holder) straight through to the front towers on top?

Thanks. I won't be able to assess handling for a while because I have a few new parts to get in order for it to run.

I'm not quite sure what you're asking about the bottom knuckle holders. Rephrase your question and I might get it.

Meanwhile, I got rid of all of those ugly white pieces and replaced them with CF parts. Right now, there are two pieces on the bottom, but I will eventually integrate them into one piece of CF.

And for those of you who have looked at this and noticed it, yes the car is quite a bit wider now. It won't mix well with the X-Mod bodies (which I don't plan to use), but it might provide more stability.

Nice job. I ben selling kits simular to this for some time now. i made a custom rear pod at my work on a cnc from delron and it uses a toe in and out system like the schumacher sst.

im selling the kits $25 for total rear end "no bearings tho." just strap on a motor and put it on. if you want a link to the site just check the offical xmod fourms its poted by a few people on there becouse im not 1 to go on outher peoples fourms pramoteing my site. and i like tiny rc alot of good info on here.

question, how did you cut the carbon fiber?

I used a Dremel. If you want to do some for yourself, wear a mask; when you cut it, it produces a large amount of fine carbon dust that you don't want in your lungs!

yeah, i think i will. ive never handled carbon fiber, so i dont know how strong it is. ive got a dremel. im thinking about getting another xmod. the one i now is shot to crap. i like the idea. good thinking.

where did you buy your cf? i cant find any anywhere. and thats 1mm right?

if i were to guess he got it out of the clear chasis upgrade available at radioshack.

But if u were looking, try asking local custom stereo shops if they have any scraps laying around.
