I believe I have the best indoor ragne of anyone so far

wish i could spell, of course I mean RANGE

Earlier today my friend broke the bud of the antenna off.
I took the entire wind-up antenna out of the controller, and then ran the blue wire with the metal contact out of the antenna hole.

Then I cut open a CAT5 cable and got around a foot and a half section of 1 twisted pair and stripped 1 inch of plastic off it.

I wrapped the inch of copper threw the screw hole on the metal attachemnt on the antenna wire.

Then I opened the car and moved the antenna so it comes straight up out of the back and took out the knot.

I am positive my calcuations are correct because my lab has raised floors with tiles that are 2 foot by 2 foot.

I charged the car 2 times and put it down right at the begining of a tile and drove the car stright forward untill it quit and I could still make it jitter enough to bring it back.

The total tiles traveled was 26 and it made it into the 27th.

So for you math majors thats ~52 feet indoors.

I think I can sneak in a webcam and record it if you guys dont believe me, but what would I have to gain by lying in the first place

Sweet..... So does your new antenna just dangle like a wet noodle now or what???? LOL
What if you installed a telescopic one and rapped the cat5 around it to make it stiff... (that sounds nasty)

yeah it just hangs down to the floor.

I have a 6 foot telescoping antenna but it kind of gets in the way of driving.

I dont see why it wouldnt hurt to rap the CAT5 around it, Ill try it tommorrow if I get a chance.

I cant wait to see if my outdoor range has taken a nice increase like the indoor has.

I'm going to re work the antenna setup tonight.

Im going to move the blue wire back inside.
Then I'm going to feed the cat5 through the additonal guidance piece for the original antenna and tie a knot on the inside so it cant get pulled out.

I need a digi-cam to take pictures cause my webcam is crap.

If you guys know of a decent cheap one I can pickup at walmart please let me know

I picked up a reconditioned Sony digi cam from Walmart just before xmas....it was the $500 version, and i only paid like $145. i think it was also a soon to be phased out model, but good enough for my parents.

Stupid me bought a $500 Minolta...its great but it does TOO much.

Heres the "finished" product.

I had to use a dremel to get the hole bigger but its working good.

My connection inside the controller isnt that good so i need to redo it but i kinda like this "mod" of mine

hehe, nice noodle mod

I just replaced the antenna on the car with about 6-7" of Cat5 and removed the cripple cap in the controller and voila, about a 30 foot range. Not scientifically measured, but my mate who is about 6"2 just laid down in a straight line lots of times LOL!!! you should have seen it. we ignored the 2" and it worked out at about 6 body lengths around 32' if you include the last bit to where I was standing
