just wondering
so I just found a 30-watt soldering pencil at my uncle's... I was wondering if this would work with my zip zaps or just fry them?
any help would be appreciated.

30 Watt is fine (I use a 35), as long as you also use a pencil tip with it.
What are you trying to do.

Yeah, no problem with the iron wattage. One tip though, scrape the ends of the tiny wires with an x-acto to clean the enamel coating off the wires before you solder them. I know they look like bare wires, but they do have a thin coating on them to insulate them from each other. This coating won't allow the solder to stick and you'll go nuts trying to get them to solder with this coating left on.
