No way too much, 6 cells is the max you should try but 6 ic3's is pushing it. Don't use a 9v. Keep it under 9v, 6 IC3's is about 8.6v.

sorry, I was thinking in bit batts. I meant 12 volts. What will I have to do to keep it running. I plan on wiring in a switch so I can switch between 4 and 8 cells.

That's what you can do. If you leave 8 batts on the chassis while only 4 are running it then it will be very slow because of the extra weight. what kind off cells are you using?

I don't even have a car yet! I plan on using 4 aaas, or a 9 volt. I plan on installing the switch on the bumper like a parachute switch. It should look cool. Will, the car handle 15 volts? I think I'm gonna find out.
