I only use Kester "44" Rosin Core solder. I get it through Jameco or MCM Electronics.

you can only get radio shack brand at radio shack but it is rosin-core and it works just as good IMO.

Try using silver solder...I hear that its the best and if you can't get it at "RS" then try getting it online...

I use Silver Solder for most things. It melts at a higher temp, and provides a better electrical connection, and is stronger then a lead based solder. However for heat sensitive components I'll use a 60/40 lead solder.
