Thumbs up a few tips, then it's off to kill the Mini-Zs!

After completing the 6-cell mod, I had complaints that the car was flipping every time I turned at anything over 3/4 throttle. It turns out that it was the surface. The car flipped like crazy on blacktop, but once I got down in the old parking garage at work last night, on the semi-smooth concrete, it didn't even flip once.

Also, I was thinking that the 6-cells had reduced my range somehow, but upon taking into the garage once again (4 stories under ground) I was back to having range for as far as I could see the car. I guess there was interference by my house. There are NO radio sognals in the garage, I can't tune any stations on the AM or FM.

Now, the only thing left to do is stickier tires. It spins a little to much for me, thanks to the torque from my 8.7V worth of batteries. I think I'm going to go to the Stage 2 Blue so I can get more top speed and cut back on the acceleration a bit.

Also going to get a pinion puller and either rewind the stage 2 red and put the yellow's pinion on it or try a 180 motor like Neurokinetic was talking about. Time for the Mini-Zs to die!

Try a 180 and you won't want to bother with the 130 motors anymore...

FBI???

No secret agency, the parking garage is just under the skyscraper I work in.

*edit*
I just went out and bought the tire and wheel sets. I am going to see if any of the new tires will get me some better traction. It'll not be until tomorrow before I can report results because I am going to paint the new wheels chrome. My old tires are glued to the rims and I do not have any modelig glue with me to reglue them if I rip them off. They'll just fling off if I don't glue them.

It's funny how when you tell the guys at Radio shack what you're doing, they get all excited and stare at you in disbelief, right before they say "Man I'm going to try that with THIS car!!" LOL

180 motor

Okay, so I made 2 different posts...it's 2 different topics...don't yell ...LOL..

Neuro, I know you upgraded your fet -board before you dropped in the 180. Based on the amperage you said that it draws, I won't need toupgrade the board, right????

That's one mod that's a bit too messy. If we had a way to do an internal stack or just solder on a mini-z type turbo, it's be different, but I don't want to make and solder a new pcb board on it, besides I'd lose the room for my 2 extra cells.

no

I got the rubber tire set because I'm running on concrete now and they would be too slippery. I'm trying to gain traction, drifting is not a problem. I may try the foamies out if I don't do so well on carpet vs. the Mini-Zs

In terms of what? Speed or performance? I don't know of any Xmod doing 37 mph, so if you know of one doing above that, then yes the Mini Z has been beaten. I know of a mini Z that did 37 mph. That's with 4 cells. Now he's aiming for 40.

I know of another guy who can go head to head with an HPI Savage until the Savage Shifts to second gear.

Both are using NML motors, btw.

Approximation because we haven't radared it yet, but it should be slightly shy of 30 mph top speed, on big spaces. From a far, I can only say that it is moving.

This is with 6 cells. Maybe more once I do 7.

sorry...

Sorry if I have trouble believing that an xmod or mini-z could even come close to keeping up with a savage, even until it "shifts gears", how the hell do you think these light cars are getting enough traction to accelerate like the truck...on carpet maybe because I've never ran my truck or xmod on carpet. Anyway, anyone who tries to race my 9T Stampede with Maxx wheels will just get laughed at as I'm running them over...LOL..... Also a 30-40mph Mini-Z isn't common is it? I mean I've seen a record holding Losi go over 100mph, but that doesn't mean I'm going to find them at the track.
