29MPH With AWD!!!!!!!!

to give ur x mod a major boost with awd, use the stock rear differential in the back and the awd rear ball differential in the FRONT. not the back. the rear awd ball diff. try it.

So you are putting the limited slip in the front and the open diff in the back correct? It would be a bit of a help on a very powerful setup to keep the inside front wheel from slipping in power on turns, but would not do anything for straight line top speed.

Leave the AWD off and stick to 2WD for maximum speed as you reduce parasitic drag from the front gears.

For 2WD on the AWD chassis-take off the little red transfer gear so the front wheels have nothing turning them.

Take out both diffs for NWD!
I can see the ball diff working up front, they are a bit loose. I like using it in the rear of my 2wd car tho.

try it. I will admit that the NWD was a joke.

The ball diff is supposed to give you equal traction to both of your wheels, but will let one break loose when truning.
This gives you almost equal power to both of the wheels. That's why they(ball differentials) are used or at least available in most 10th scale cars.
A geared differential will put power to one wheel in most cases, and when you turn, it usually puts it to the wheel on the outside. It works a lot better than having a solidly locked up axle, but is not as effective as a ball diff.
The problem with the ball diff in the xmod is that it's non adjustable, and has a tendancy to slip. If you put a little thicker graese in it, it grabs a little better.

The benefit to having a little slip is that it will also allow the motor to rev up higher before the transmission grabs, puttling less wear on the motor, and sudden loads do less damage.
but well, you know, I'm just a dumbsas, which may be a compliment form you, I'm not up on all the new, hip forum lingo...

first, don't swear, this is a family forum. second, no personal attacks. third, i've went through all teh configurations, RWD, FWD, 4WD, ball diff up front, ball diff in back, no ball diff, all configurations made the car move so i dunno what you're talking about. the ball diff from the awd kit makes it a bit harder to turn but for me, it lets me hook up much better on carpet.

btw, your avatar is quite hypnotic
