Brake fluid destroyed my car

i put some fluid in a tub let my car soak about 20 minutes when i took it out to wipe it off i picked it up by the front body part, when i did it ripped off. The plastic that hold the screws in was snapped. Soon after the same thing happened to the rear. I am soooooo bummed. If any body has an extra body, or knows where to get one i would be willing to buy it or something because i dont have the money for a new x mod right now and the chassis is untouched. thanks in advance and be careful when you use this stuff

dude i'm sorry that happened to you but your not suposed to leave it in that long. like 15 mins at most. something you can do is try super glueing the parts back on.

You're also supposed to take it apart. When you put it in there the pieces all contracted around the screws, which caused it to break.

You should try a body from a 1/24th scale model. I don't think you're gonna be able to save that body.

It removes paint, and MOST of the time it dosn't harm any plastic. I've used it on plastic (styrene) models, motorcycle parts and lots of other things. Of course if I'm not sure, I use a test piece that would be easily replaceable. I've never needed to leave it on there for more than 5 or 10 min.
I don't submerge it in a tub or anything either- just make sure the surface stays wet untill the paint comes off.
Like basting a turkey, not making soup.

hahahah reminds me of back in the day when my friend and I tried dying our "old school" gameboys with RIT dye. We read an article about dying the golden bathtub RC-10 parts. So we tried it with our gameboys. This was like two years before different colored gameboys came out... anyway... we had a pot of dye heated over a stove and I guess it was a little too hot and it deformed the hell outta the plastic.. it sucked at the time but funny as hell now. haha so I ended up buying another friend's gameboy from him for $25 and dyed that one on lower heat.. It was cool since everyone was asking us were we got our black gameboys (you could tell it wasn't painted)... until someone stole it.

That brings up a good point... do you think we could dye these bodies? and just hand paint the little headlights and stuff? mask and spray paint the windows. I know they maybe more susceptible to melting than an old school gameboy, but it wouldn't chip like the original paint. I think I may dye mine blue... someone else try it first.. I'm scared to do anything that drastic without being able to get a replacement body. Dude!! take your brake fluid damaged body and try dying it on low heat with RIT dye and tell us if it gets jacked... Take one for the team!!!

Yes, somebody already did it. Check out the purple RSX in the gallery. He dyed that one.

I doubt that's dyed... it's got silver flakes in it... he probably dyed it then sprayed a clear coat over it... Dyeing works best with nylon-filled plastics... I'm not sure what the nylon content of these XMod bodies is.
