is it over???? + info on my dual motor mod
Well, there haven't been that many posts in the last couple of weeks and the buzz seems to be gone. I guess the cars and this forum is just going to slowly die until something new comes out. I'm still experimenting.....just to let you know, my dual motor mod failed miserably.....No matter what I tried, I couldn't get both motors to spin close enough to the same rpms for it to perform well. Plus with an extra motor in the front, driving the front wheels, the steering went to pot and the turn radius was so poor that it could only cut the wheels maybe 1/4" in each direction. Next up.....track...after it's through raining and snowing...so that'll be July..

Well, I'm just starting with my car. CF drive shaft, 180 motor, Lion batteries, etc.
Once I get a little more disposable income, I'm going to try four wheel steering.

Lots of us are still experimenting with different wind/gauage/wrapping styles to find that "perfect" setup for the racing we preffer.
There are new products on the brink of being released(CF chasis, upper braces, alloy drivetrain components, ect). It just takes time to get everything just right before release.
I'm personally about to upgrade my power supply to Li Ions, upgrade my wiring, and I'd like to upgrade my electronics via stacked FETs and possibly a regulator mod(Jshwaa style).

ohio
aperson, I'm in Cincinnati. It's 10 degrees here today, so there's no way in hell I'm going outside even though the snow is all melted. It usually is done being cold here by early to mid April, but then rains every day or nearly every day until July...sucks!

hey monster,
i am too working on a twin motor mod. only i have the opposite problem as you. i got the motors to work and spin evenly (i am gonna use a torqued out motor and a top speed motor for a even match) but i am having a problem monting the extra engine in tha front of the xmod. you scratch my back, ill scratch yours . what i mean is that you tell me how to mount the engine in the front, and ill tell you how to get the engines to work together. we got a deal???

Every time i go to a RS theres somebody else buying a Xmod, and I just got some of my friends into it, and got one for my girl friend. I've had to chill on the modding for a while because of other responsibilities, and most of my xmod work is questing for a regular "track" to race at (big lowpile carpet or hard floor room that a group can chill and race at). So they're still ticking I'm just getting started getting people interested in 'em

twin motor
It looked like crap and the body wouldn't fit, but what I did was take the rear end of a junk car and mount it backwards in the front and then I screwed in the front suspension links backwards to where the rears mounted with a piece of scrap plastic from a model kit to extend the spring mounts a bit, because the wheels were bowed in too much mounted to the original holes. I used a couple of zip ties to hold the engine in place and turn the bevel gear for the front's AWD kit. I splice the front motor's power connections in with the rear's and prayed that it wasn't too much current draw (2 stock S2 whites because that was what was in the juk car I got). I guess this would work for a drag car that you'd only have to make miunor steering corrections to or run into a wall, like a top-fuel, but you'd have to find a body with enough clearance for the motr in front. I know, I was stupid not to, but I didn't take pictures because I wasn't satisfied with the terrible looks and performance. It took me about 5-7 hours to do total with the hardest part being makind the suspension/spring extenders for the front end, but now that you know a bit of model scraps will work, maybe you can get it to work. Anyway, I put the one car back together and am working on making the scrap car into a rally car with Super Stomper tires/wheels, but I screwed up the first set of stomper tires because the axles turned but the tires/wheels didn't while on the ground, but did in the air. hopefully by the time the ground thawls out I'll be able to see how much dirt these cars can handle with the "junker".

give up
I give up, the x-mod has reached it's potential limit. RS won't come out with anything that'll be a revelation to the Xmod world, it'll be new bodies, springs tires etc....maybe a motor with a few more rpms, but nothing to get estatic over. I'm buying an RS4 or Xray this weekend and making a rally car out of it. I was going to do that to the X-mod but the body wouldn't fit over the larger stomper tires without dremmeling the wheel wells all to hell and then it'd look stupid.
