how to fix the bottom of the skyline bodykit

i found out that if you scraped some of the paint of on the bottom black part of the skyline you can just take a permenent marker and fill in the yellow spots on the bottom and it looks like new

i'm thinking of takeing the dremel to the skyline. it will solve the low clearence if you drive it out side. if you look at the bottom of the front bumper i'm thinking of cutting the black part off. does any one else think this would be a good idea for ground clearence?

It might be a good idea, but it all depends...

the lower a body is to the ground, the better handling it gets. If you cut that off you would be sacrificing some handling ability.

However, you could cut it off, and then swap it for a material that bends a little more, like thinner more flexible plastic, rubber, foam....carbon fiber would be a nice touch heheh.

if he cuts off the actual "body" of the car handling isn't effected at all. The suspension is what matters as far as handling goes, the bodies are there mainly for cosmetics (or protection in some peoples cases).

The body does affect the handling, and I'll tell you why.

As long as anything is attached to the chassis, it will affect handling.

If you put a 20 foot plank on top of a bare chassis, don't you think it would affect handling?

Also, NASCARs use a replaceable bonnet on the bottom of the car to keep it lower to the ground . It’s replaceable because it occasionally scrapes the tarmac and undergoes a lot of abuse from the air forces. I think it’s made of rubber. NASCARs are meant for high speed ovals, but the same thing applies to any other automobile. The more air that goes under the car, the more lift you have because it works like an air cushion. A cushion of air is a bad thing to have under a dynamic body like a car.

Air dams are important!

you are right when it comes to the concept. but these cars barely go 15-20mph, aero dynamics don't effect anything on these things. Removing a bumper on an xmod won't effect handling besides the fact that you'll save maybe a few grams or so. Even on real cars aerodynamics don't have much effectiveness until you reach 60mph+.
