I used a kind of hard clear plastic that came off a package I had lying around the house. I just took off the old piece and and layed it on the plastic and drilles holes where the existing ones were. then i put the screws on and traced it out and cut it out. It took me maybe 10-15 minutes to complete it.

How rigid or flexable is it? Will stand up to the stress?

scrody, thats a good mod and you of course know that the stock piece that goes there serves one important purpose and that is to hold the front of the servo securely.
