I mask off the windows with frosted tape, and then paint with Krylon (for a quick job, if it needs to be dry in 1-2 hrs.) or Rustoleum (for a high quality job that drys in 2-3 days). You might also want to wipe the car with a tack cloth or sand with a very fine (400-600) grit sandpaper (but NOT the windows) so the paint sticks better. If you do both make sure to wipe it with the tack cloth after you sand.
BTW: what happened to your first paint attempt that didn't work out?

Oh, I forgot about primer (thanks for reminding me zboy). I always do a primer coat on my cars, even if it is just a light mist, just to help the paint stick better.

I stick mostly with Tamiya paints. I just did a Microsizer Skyline body that turned out nice. I started with a small piece of #1000 grit paper to knock off the parting lines and other rough areas. Of course tack it down. Dusted on white primer to even it out. Follow it after it dried with the color, Tamiya sprays work well without buildup. I used tape on the windows and liquid mask film on the light lenses. The tape I used is Tamiya masking tape, it may cost a bit more but it works well.

Tamiya
I agree with HammerZ. Tamiya has VERY good products. their paint, puddy, tape and primer perform EXTREMELY well. I've had nothing but great experiences with their products. They are highly recomended by me.

yeah i will only use tamiya paint i've used testors on every model kit i have ever built. couldnt find the right color testors so i picked up some tamiya judging it on my past experience with tamiya RC kits. i wasnt dissapointed it lays down better and doesnt have aggravating metal caps like testors so you can acctually get them off.
