Got to thinking... source of cheap 3.7v Li-Ion Cells...

I have one of those wristwatches that doubles as an FRS radio...

The battery is a 3.7V 540mAh, it's about 3/16" thick, 1 7/8" long and 1 1/4" wide.

You know what I'm thinking.

Plus, I don't need to buy or build a charger. just put it back in my watch and plug the watch into it's charger.

Audiovox wants $22 plus about $7 shipping and handling, but I bought my FRS Watch for $19.99... so the heck with that. Go to the FRS radio aisle at walmart and you'll see lots of little FRS radios with these batteries.

have you come up with any ways of attaching it to a bit
withought sodering it on so you could recharge it

Well this is a WASH.

The battery is so huge it won't fit in anything 1:64 or smaller unless it's a friggin ocean liner.

Audiovox GMRS200W

22 Channels (14 FRS, 8 GMRS), GMRS License required to legally use channels 15-22 in the united states, available for $75 from the FCC.

Approximately 2 mile range. Voice activation, channel scan, backlight, "roger beep", and clock. Comes with One 540 mAh 3.7V Li-Ion Cell, handsfree headset, and a charger that plus into the headset port. Completely charges a dead battery in about 5 hours. With just the watch mode on and no FRS, it will go about 3 weeks without a charge. FRS in standby mode with no scanning lasts about 3 days. If left scanning, runs about 2 days. moderate FRS use (like on a road trip) will pull runtime down to about 10 hours. The charger inside IS a smart charger, so it won't overcharge the Li-Ion battery. Not bad for $20. There's another similar watch made by X-act that uses the same batteries, and several miniature FRS's made to be worn like pendants, also from X-act with the same battery.

The only thing this FRS is missing is "privacy" codes.

I have about 5 or 6 FRS's, this one is certainly not my primary one, but it's one of my favorites.
