if you are mailordering you may as well get an actual bit char-g since the price has dropped.
if you are buying local id either get a cheap clone to start out with(you will break it but you will learn) or a microsizer from toys r us.

I would get a Microsizer Pro, and do an internal dual cell modification. I've only been into the little cars since last Christmas, but I have done a fair amount of modding, and so far that is the ultimate set-up, performance-wise. I've heard others state that once you go dual-cell, you won't go back, and that is true to a certain extent. And having a 2 speed car makes it all very driveable.
The thing about the internal dual cell that not many people have mentioned that really make it cool is weight and weight distribution. With only one cell, the car is way too light scale-wise, and too much weight (from the battery and the motor) is in the rear, which affects handling in a bad way. Once you get more weight in the car and shift it forward, all of a sudden your tires, suspension and driving style matter.
And back to your original question, I have found the Microsizers to be the best chassis, from a materials and fit standpoint, followed closely by Bit-char-G. Plus, they are located in this country and will warranty their cars. I've felt that if I'm going to invest countless hours modding a little car, I want to start with the best possible chassis. And when the difference in price between a Microsizer and a cheap clone is less than $20.00, it's a no brainer.

actually if these things were scale weight theyd be like 10tons. maybe 6 or 7 single cell.

That might be true, but they would also have like 8,000 horsepower. I guess what I'm talking about is the fact that the additional weight seems to make it "feel" more scale, as in oversteer, understeer, truly drifting, etc.
Just my opinion.

Hey hogjowlz-
Are you sure you're not mixing up ounces, pounds and tons? Doing the math in reverse comes up with something a little hard to believe:
1 ton = 2,000 lbs
1lb = 16 oz.
little car = 1/64th scale (or close)
So, if a dual cell weighs a scale 8.5 tons, then the actual weight of the little car would have to be 265 lbs!
Another take on the reverse math would be to take my car (BMW 330i) which has a curb weight of 3,285 lbs, which is probably a little heavier than most of the cars modeled in little cars. So, if we divide that by 64 (1/64th scale, right?), a true scale little car would weigh a little over 51 lbs! Somehow, I think we're both wrong, but I'm not sure where.
I think figuring scale weight is not a linear calculation. I'll do some research unless someone else knows the answer.

I'll continue my conversation with myself.
Actually, you are probably right, hogjowlz. you have to divide or multiply by the cube for scale weight, so 8.5 tons = 17,000 lbs, divided by 64, divided by 64, divided by 64 = .0648 lbs, or a little over 1 ounce, which is probably close to what a little car weighs. Fascinating!

wow, this thread really makes me want to go dual cell...
i drove one awhile back but it did not work right, it steered backwards and it would cut out sometimes. 12 yr olds soldering
I really wanna have it all fit under a closed pcb (sorry hog but i'm just a perfectionist ) but i hate to rip a car up with a dremel. My friend's company can get 10 clones for $15 from a chinese supplier. Dunno what kind, but i might see if i can get sommma those to play with. So does everyone use NIMH cells for the internals?

The MS Pro would be the best choice of right now. The internal dual cell would be the best mod to do but if you don't you will always have the booster button. (fast/slow) If you do you will gain huge power increase in booster mode or in normal mode. Either way standard or pro you get great service. Microsizers will send you a chassis if you have a problem no questions asked/free shiping, handeling. So Microsizers all the way.

FOR ALL U NOOB BUYERS THERE (not in a bad way juss people who dont buy different brands) DO NOT I REPEAR DO NOT BUY AN LXX!!! U ARE BASICLY GAMBLING!! I BOUGHT 11 LXX'S 6 FROM TOY EAST AND 5 FROM EBAY AND ONLY 1 WORKS SLIGHTLY LESS THAN PERFECT. THE REST SUCKED EXCEPT FOR ANOTHER ONE THATS DECENT!!! THE REST HAVE ONE PROBLEM THAT LEADS TO ANOTHER.I TRIED FIXING THEM AND I FIXED 4 BUT THEY ARE NOT AS GOOD AS MY GOOD LXX. THE REST HAVE STEERING, GEAR, MOTOR RUNNING, ELECTRIC PROBLEMS!! GO WITH BITCHAR-G, ITS THE MOST RELIABLE OR MICROSIZERS SPORT IF U LIKE BOOSTERS. (oh yea booster SUX SUX SUX SUX SUX without a dual cell and 3.0+ motor on both microsizers pro or lxx or bitchar-g) . i wasted this whole spring break fixing my cars. 1/11 cars r perfect. 4/10 card are DECENT (less than average) . 6/6 juss plain suck. sorry i just had to let all that out

Right now in my opinion a new ZipZap is the best. Handles better than a MS in my opinion

Okay when you buy a car you have to know what you are buying. First thing a ZipZap is a little longer which makes it handle better. But what if something happens to your ZipZap like a steering problem (not equal) you can not get another one, or you might be lucky to enchange it but what if you are not so lucky you can't do anything ecept to stay in the hobby and buy another car if you still want to stay in the hobby.
If you get a MS you have more choices on what you want. A normal MS 2.6 motor. A MS Sport with a clear body and a 1.6 motor. Or a MS PRO which has boost and a 2.6 motor. The Zip Zaps cost about 19.99 for one and needs 2 AAA batteries. The MS's needs 2 AA batteries. The MS standard 2.6 cost about 19.99. The sport cost 19.99 and the PRO cost 24.99 depending where you buy from. If I were you I would get five more dollars and get the PRO. The service for Microsizers is the best I've experienced. Not like Radio Shack you get 2 chassis free if you have any problems with your new car. This is what sets Microsizers/Bitchar-g from all the other brands. So before you buy know what you are buying berfore you but it. NO offense the ZipZaps are good cars but there is a big difference, length,handling/service.
