Track Considerations

I've got 32 square feet of, well, I don't know it's actual name- but it's that dense blue sheet foam.
I was thinking of cutting it into either 1x1 ft. Or 2x2 squares for a modular layout. My problem is, will Bits have enough room to turn on a 1 sqaure foot surface in a racing situation? I'm not thinking so... But if anyone can tell me wrong (I'm new to Bits) please do...
Also, notice how Dr Drifts "STORM Forrest" has guardrails right next to the road surface, and then 'grass' outside of that... I was thinking, why not reverse that- have the road, then "grass" or "sand," then the guardrail on the outside of the tile? That way, cars that spin out off the track will have to right themselves and get going again, rather than just hitting the wall and bouncing along in the right direction.
Any and all feedback is welcome, thanks.

If you race fast motors...

Then you want the guard rails set so the cars will just bounce off. Bits don't really turn that well, and the rails can make a track more forgiving. I think it is way more fun to race side by side with another car than to be spinning out. At least that's what I like. I made my track with smooth walls that I can ride through turns.

It all depends on the Bit's your going to run.
If your looking to do a technical course than I would guess most people will now run a PRO series MS (Booster). So I would go with 2'x2' pieces if your going to do a modular track.
Wider turns = Faster turns.

If your looking to do a rally style course, you could pull it off with 1'x1' pieces. Tighter turns that way.
