bit hoovercraft...

I had the craziest idea after watch my favorite show, junkyard wars. A BIT HOOVER CRAFT. one motor to make the cushion of air and one to propel it. and the steeting magnet to push a deflector so that the air can go in a direction. What do you think...doesn't matter tho. i am still gonna try and make it. this is a great solution to the two PBC's left over from trashed clones. later

its been talked about before...
i remember this board had a thread about it..
http://groups.msn.com/theadmiralslai...arggallery.msn
but he was talking about making a "Wipeout" style futuristic body and such...sounds complicated...
and i wouldnt be surprised if your bit just did whirlies on the floor instead of moving straight

yeah?

really? that's good to hear. I have a plan...actually i've made alot of the pieces already and plan to have two bats and two motors. the one motor running all the time for lift and the one in the back pushing it forward. I've intergrated the steering magnets into the turning apparatus. I have finals coming up so i won't be able to continue this venture until at least december, I'll keep you posted on the results. and no it won't do spin outs and there isn' t much for a body, i am all about making it acutally work.

weight issues

if i add another batt, i am worried about weight. i have made lift propellor small to accomadate a size. and i've tested with two batts. It'll lift the board adn other parts.

will the motor lifting the hovercraft be able to produce enough power to lift?

yeah..i've tested

yeah...i've tested with two fully charged bit batts, and the motor seems to give enough lift. i plan to run that motor continuous via a hard wire to the lift motor from the bats. no going thru the PCB. later dudes

Are you going to use a rubber skirt around the leading edge of the bottom of the hovercraft?

Looks cool, can't wait to see the finished hovercraft!

i don't think so..

have you ever done that experiment in school where you took a CD and put a piece of tubing in the middle hole and added a flully blown ballon to the top to create lift. I hope it's enough to have the cushion there. a rubber skirt would be cool, but again weight issues and the power of the fan will not make it expand so there is no reason so, i might put a rim of light carboard or plastic to catch the air..
that's about it.
it's gonna have to wait....finals are coming and there is no time between microbio and organic chem for bits.

later dudes

thanks!!

finally, recognition! i don't know exactly what i need. But it seems that a couple of 2.6's and at least four NIMH batts and some steering coils. I had a couple of them but the super glue i used to put them back ruined the wire. I have a couple of PCB's i can play around with, but other than that. I don't need much more.

let me know if you can send me at some batts.

thank you very much...i knew those saturday nights spent at home were worth something.
