I did a 2 motor mod on a 4 cell Zap one time. You just mount the 2nd motor up on top of the heat sink where it touches the connecting gear. It is a royal pain in the tail, and with 4 cells, it drew way too much voltage and fried my PCB. It was VERY fast and powerful for a few seconds, though. Sorry I have no pics.

I don't recommend this mod. One motore is fast enough if you get a good torqu'ie one.

I've seen another guy with 2 motor.. he said the speed is the same, but with much better torque and acceleration.

Ya... I would probably do it again, but only with 2 cells. 4 was way too much voltage with the added draw from the 2nd motor, it made a little part of my PCB glow bright orange before frying it.

I wonder if you could use three R-spec motor with three batteries. Imagine the speed, torq, and run time.

That's a cheezy way to do a 2 motor mod. The cleanest and nicest looking way is to solder the second motor to the back end of the heat sink. You need to slot and bend it down in the back. This way, you don't even need to run extra positive wire to it. you are already getting it through the sink. It just looks better too.

But listen to me...

I have more power and torque than I know what to do with by just using a single torque'ie motor and 3 cells. (std. ones) All that extra crap is reduculous.

Pay attention here!!! The more motors you add, the more draw you add. With 2 motors and 4 cells, I melted my PCB. 3 motors and 3 cells would SURELY melt it. Too much voltage draw. I can do a 4 cell mod with no problem, but adding motors is what killed my board.

2 motors with 2 cells may fair just fine. I think 2 motors with 3 cells might cause you to have a little fire hole, though. I may be wrong, but I just don't wanna chance it again. With a Zap, 2 cells is a bare minimum for me. Hey, if you're going to the trouble of adding an extra, you may as well add 2 extras. It's sooo impressive to see that little 2 1/4 inch car scoot along at 7.5 mph!

holy crap! I thought I was the one that came out with that dual motor layout! mine is very similar. Now I'm bummed

And why is that cheesy? It takes a lot of thought and time to do something like this. Not all of us have the machinery to build some fancy schmanzy aluminum (or some other exotic material) motor adapter plate. I tried to make one but the only problem is I did'nt have the right tools.

It's a good mod, there's just an easier and better way to do it. Just bend the back of the heat sink down, and solder the motor to the top of it. VERY clean, and no need for an extra positive wire.

I just don't see much need for a dual motor car if I have a motor with alot of torque and 3 cells.

Didn't mean to step on your toes, Joe millionaire.
