Are the new ones supposed to be faster? Because I just got a gold Civic, and just for comparison, I put the 1.6 back in my old Zip Zap, that I had done the resistor mod to, and the new one was more than twice as fast. Tommorow I'm going to try swapping motors to see that has anything to do with it, but I was going to ask if anybody else noticed theirs was faster.
Reception is good on mine. I have't tested max distance, but it handled my entire kitchen floor without a glitch. The antenna on the car is about an inch longer than my old ZZ.
Mine does have bunk steering. Out of the box the center adjustment was full right, and it still drifted left, so I just turned it farther to the right, past the range of adjustment, and it goes perfectly straight and turns equally well in either direction. It just bugs me that the little arm is pointing towards the wheel. I took the front end apart, and there is nothing visibly wrong with it. Oh well, I decided it's not worth getting an exchange over.
I also noticed the chassis is just ever so slightly different. The difference in the molding is most noticable on the "Made In China", it's much crisper, and cleaner. Also the old one has the FCC logo, and says "For home or offfice use", the new one doesn't. Just slight differences, but enough to make me wonder. Different factory? Slowed production, now that the Christmas rush is over? Running improvements in the design? Who knows? Who cares? I'm just glad it's faster than my old one. What a bummer that one was.

That was the reason that I returned my original cranberry red Cruiser, it drifted to the left.
The new one 'tho runs straight, but the little lever has to be just as you describe.

I just picked up the new champagne honda civic today. I was picking up a spare because I was going to do a dual cell mod on my yellow mustang which has been collecting dust. I decided to race them and to my surprise the civic was faster then my stang with the nos motor in it. It would take it off the line and then the stang would catch up to it. I swapped engines and put the nos in the civic and the stock 1.6 from the civic in the stang and the civic cooks the stang. I also had the steering off with the needle all the way to the right and to correct it I did the same by pushing it further to the right. Im glad I raced them and noticed the difference because I will now put the dual cell in the new car instead of the stang and see how it compares to my bit clone with 2 cell mod

My new ones are faster.
As for the NOS motor? Why do you guys keep talking about it like it's the best thing you can get? Is it faster than the ones you can buy from the guys here at Tiny rc? I have clone motors that smoke the NOS motor. You can buy an R-spec motor from this place and it supposedly smokes the clones. (meter tested) You can buy a Darkside 3.4 motor from DKS that is supposedly super fast compared to the Radio Shack motors.
Just thought I'd let you know. I would do a 2 or 3 cell mod on mine if I were y'all. It seems to me that this is what the "Tine RC Gods" made thes nice little cars for. They smoke!!!

The reason why the nos motor is so popular because it is the fastest motor that can be ran in older zip zaps without any mods. The pcb limits the power from the battery. Thats why it won't run higher rpm motors.
[EDIT]I'm not sure how the newer zip zaps work with bigger motors.
