steering problems

I have just finished my first dual cell mod and it's sweet, except for the fact that it steers like crap.
there is a lot of play in the front axles and I don't think the single return spring can do the job. I am wondering if someone sells these? I have my other bit, but I race it, so I can't afford to take the spring out and risk losing it.

www.bitmod1.com sells springs! kinda expensive... but i hear they're stronger, better, and .. .well yeah =)

i dunno, i've never tried it.. but some people have made theirs out of floppy disk springs or guitar strings.... i've had no experience with custom steering springs, so ask around =)
