A Newbite with some questions...
Hey guys I just bought a Tomy Bit Char-G Castrol Nismo Skyline SE off eBay as well as a 3.8L motor and 150mAh battery. I was just wondering if anyone has had problems dealing with Japanese sellers? I used Paypal's optional insurance, just to be on the safe side. How long does it normally take to ship them from Japan to the US?
On a different note I saw a picture of one of these that was so fast it lifted a good bit on takeoff. Will my 3.8L motor do this alone? Or will I need the shorter gears and sticker tires? Also how fast will it be with that engine, and has anybody had any problems with it?
Also I plan on making this a "sleeper" lol, so can anybody tell me what I need for Max performance? I opted for the 3.8L motor because not enough have the 4.0L and I'm worried about problems with it. So basically my plans are to get a pitch black Skyline body, full suspension, new gears (short ratio, new axles), soft tires, and extended antenna. Anything else I need? Also can somebody tell me where I can get those custom black wheels with the chrome lip
I appreciate all responses and hope to be a regular to this board in a little while.
Thanks,
-Cyrus

Welcome to the Boards!
1. It take about a week to ship from the Far East! Also, I haven't had any problems with sellers from there yet.
2. To make your bit do a wheelie, you either need to attach some weight to the back of it, or do the dual battery mod. Use the search option for these forums, or go to www.questformadness.com to learn more about this mod, and many others.
3. For max performance without soldering or 'tinkering' with your bit (Bit Char-G)'s circuitry, you'll need that 150mh battery you ordered, and the 3.8 motor. Note: there is no such thing as a 4.0 right now, as that speed is impossible to attain by tiny car technicians at the moment. Use blue gears for quick accel, teal gears for the dragstrip, and orange gears for good all-around fun. Hard tires are a good choice for the dragstrip, medium (stock) tires are average, and softies have fantastic turning and grip, making them excellent for tracks with lots of turns. The extended antenna is good for range, and I suggest you purchase a spool of 22awg or higher solid copper cable to use. Oh, I'm not sure what wheels you are talking about (description?), and I don't recommend buying the suspension kit. It's more of a gimmick, than a hardcore racing addition to your car.

Thanks Pojo!
Is the dual battery mod worth doing in your opinion? How much added life will it give me over the 150mAg NiMH battery I ordered?
Looks like I'll be getting the gear kit and the tire kit then, I figured the suspension wouldnt do much anyways being that there's can't be very much bodyroll on a car that's 1" tall. I will definitely get the antenna kit and thick gauge wire as you suggested, but at this point it's not too important since I won't be going very far from it (tinkering and testing but not really racing it).
As far as the wheels, basically I'm looking for any custom choices I have. I would love black wheels with a chrome ring around the edge, I've seen them on a few cars but I believe they are imported from Germany. I searched and found people buying $7 R/C cars from Wal-Mart and using it's wheels, I will probably just do that.
Anyways thanks for the info, I do appreciate it.

No problem man! I remember when I was a newbie, the Mini RC world seemed to massive to me...but no fears, in a couple months this whole board will be natural to you!
1. Dual battery is well worth it, as long as you can take the work (Too hard for me, gave up ). You also need to hook up a seperate charger for your bit, in able to actually charge the 2 big NiMhs. But yes, it is well worth it from what I've seen, however it does lower the running time of your car! The results are fantastic though, allowing your vehicle to pull wheelies, and gain maximum speed and torque .
2. The Walmart clone you are talking about is a Nakamichi N Racer. They are well-known for their rims, but you can also strip it down for parts (150mah battery, 2.2 motor, steering spring, wheels, tires, heatsink, pcb cover, etc). The rims you mentioned are imported German aluminum rims. They can be found at www.microsizers.de . If you want to purchase some from there, I suggest using babelfish.altavista.com as a translator.

Thanks again, that site you gave me has so many mods I could spend hours reading them all! I had no idea there were so many mods, now I'm thinking there's probably a lot of mods for speed, which is great since they're all under $10. This is a nice change from my car and my bike, whose parts run $1000+ hehe. Anyway I think I'll wait for the car to some in to order more parts, but when it comes I am going to order a gear and tire set ASAP.

How does the R-Spec motor compare to the 3.8L one? What RPM does it spin at? I am debating selling my 3.8L when it comes in for a R-Spec.
Thanks again,
-Cyrus

R-spec is comparable at 3.8, however in lieu of the X.X RPM rating it got, I'm thinking maybe it hasn't been tested for RPMs.
