Auto Modellista reception range

Hope someone can help. I`ve just bought Tomy`s AM set. The range for this set is terrible! i`m talking 3 feet before the car starts stuttering. I`ve tried new batteries, checked all the soldering/aerial connections and it`s still awful. Is there some easy way to improve the range as i`m being wiped out by 1.0 clones!!

this may or may not help. remove the clear chip cover on the car. then lift up the chip, making sure not to break any of the wire connections. then you will find that the antenna wire is knoted! untie it, and put every thing back together and volia! your antenna is an inch or more longer. you may have already done this, but ive done it to all of my microsizers and the range has increased a bunch. tell me if it works or not

That knot will give you about an extra centimeter...not an inch or more. You're also likely to pull the antenna off the PCB when trying to undo the knot.

I think any gain in range you may have gotten is in your own imagination. I've been saying this for as long as I've been a member here.

22 guage copper wire antenna, no insulation.

Cat5 will just let you choose your color, unless you make it really long and then you'll see gains. Copper wire will get you a lot better results with less weight and less antenna length.
